The magneto–gravitational stability of double-fluid interface is discussed. The pressure in the unperturbed state is not constant because the self-gravitating force is a long-range force. The dispersion relation is derived and discussed. The self-gravitating model is unstable in the symmetric mode m = 0 (m is the transverse wave number), while it is stable in all other states. The effects of the densities, the liquid-fluid radii ratios, and the electromagnetic force on the stability of the present model are identified for all wavelengths.PACS Nos.: 47.35.Tv, 47.65.–d, 04.40.–b

This paper is mainly focused on the numerical methods which are used to calculate realistically the load-carrying behaviour of reticulated shell structures. It is generally assumed that for an economical analysis, aimed at the saving of material, the material non-linearity has to be taken into consideration if dead loads prevail. For this in the context of finite element analysis the stiffness matrices of elastic and elastic-plastic rod elements are presented. In order to ensure the stability of structures it is indispensable to detect limit loads such as snap-through loads and bifurcation loads. Assuming that snap-through phenomena are quasi static, path-following algorithms can be implemented to trace the load-deflection curves in the postbuckling domain. The testing of the reliability and stability of the algorithms requires a sufficient number of numerical examples. Few will be presented.

Lineaments play an important role in the stability of structures such as slopes, foundations, dams and buildings. Identification of the presence of lineament is important especially at planning and construction stage to enable mitigation measures/controls can selected earlier. The combined techniques of satellite image downloaded from Google Earth interpretation and electrical resistivity survey can assist in the identification and verification process of lineament structures. In this study, interpretation of lineament was done using satellite images Google Earth in the laboratory. Orientation and position of every lineament was determined accurately in the field. Electrical resistivity survey was conducted using Wanner configuration that cross the lineament in the field. The electrical resistivity results showed the presence of lineament structural in the pseudo section and prove the effectiveness of combination of both techniques to detect and confirm the presence of structural lineament.

We will first discuss the stability of liquid films deposited on solid surfaces with an emphasis on the nature of intermolecular forces and thermal fluctuations that conspire to generate complex morphologies. We will see how the global dewetting dynamics is driven by the solid–fluid interface and that dewetting can be a powerful tool to study the nanorheology of complex fluids, such as polymer melts in ultra thin films. In the second part, we will consider thin elastic sheets constrained by mechanical forces. The canonical example of such a system is given by a simple paper ball. We will see how the global geometry of these constraints drastically affects the final shape adopted by the sheet.

The paper presents the determination of the maximum load of load-bearing structures with terrain contact according to EN 1997-1 (Geotechnical design) and EN 1998-5 (Foundations, supporting structures and geotechnical issues). Processed is a concrete example of SPP Crna rijeka which will be based in rock material, and which does not require “additional“ interventions for the stability of structures (water intake with sedimentation tank and engine room).
