To reduce electromagnetic pollution as well as increase the accuracy of high-precision electronic equipment, more attention has been paid to new electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials, which have the advantages of strong absorption, wide absorption bands, and a narrow thickness. In this study, a novel ternary type of the NiS2@rGO/polypyrrole (PPy) sandwich-like structured composites was synthesized via a facile two-step method, in which the hydrothermal method was used to prepare NiS2@rGO binary composites and then the in situ polymerization method was used to synthesize the PPy, which acted as the outer layer of the sandwich-like structure. The morphologies and electromagnetic absorption performance of the NiS2@rGO/PPy were measured and investigated. A sample with 6 wt% NiS2@rGO/PPy loading paraffin-composite obtained an outstanding reflection loss (RL) of −58.7 dB at 16.44 GHz under a thickness of 2.03 mm. Simultaneously, the effective electromagnetic wave absorption bandwidth for RL < −10 dB, which covered 7.04 to 18.00 GHz (10.96 GHz), was achieved by changing the thickness of the absorber from 2.0 to 3.5 mm. The results not only suggest that the NiS2@rGO/PPy composite has excellent performance in the field of EMW absorption but also prove that the novel sandwich-like structure can contribute to appropriate impedance matching through multiple relaxation and interfacial polarization processes.

The poly(o-toluidine)/BaFe10Al2O19 (POT/BFA) composites were synthesized by in-situ polymerization of o-toluidine in the presence of BaFe10Al2O19 particles. The structure, composition and morphology and electromagnetic property of the obtained samples were characterized by means of modern testing techniques. The results indicated that BFA particles were coated effectively by POT polymer chain and some interactions between POT and BFA particles were existed in the composites. The conductivity and saturation magnetization of POT/BFA composites were smaller than those of pure polymers and pure BFA respectively. The POT/BFA composites had excellent magnetic loss (μ′′) and dielectric loss (ε′′) in the range of 1 MHz~3 GHz because of their intrinsic properties and synergistic effect between components. Hence, they could be recommended as candidates for electromagnetic wave absorption and shielding materials.

In this paper, we will discuss the excellent broadband microwave absorption behaviors of Cu/CuO/carbon nanosheet composites: traces of copper and oxide embedded in a carbon nano-sheet not only cut down the high permittivity of adsorbs but also induce more interfacial polarization centers. The results showed that at a cracking temperature of 900 °C, the fabricated material has a unique ripple-like structure, which promotes the hierarchical interfacial polarization. The prepared material has a maximum absorption bandwidth of 4.48 GHz at an exceedingly thin thickness of 1.7 mm and a maximum reflection loss of −25.3 dB at a thickness of 2 mm. It is a relatively ideal material for electromagnetic wave absorption.
