The optimal sample exhibits a high luminescence thermal stability, due to a large negative thermal quenching. The mechanism of the negative thermal quenching is suggested as the conversion of thermal energy into light energy.

Novel bifunctional microencapsulated PCMs were synthesized via in situ polymerization by introducing nano-ZnO into the polymer shells, which providing the microencapsulated PCMs with good light-thermal conversion properties and thermal stability.
