IM-5 zeolite modified by H2SiF6 has superior activity, equivalent stability, higher DEB selectivity and a lower xylene selectivity in comparison of ZSM-5 with similar Si/Al2 ratio. The process provides a new way to make ethylbenzene in the vapor phase.

The supported chloride-free copper based catalyst was prepared by deposition-precipitation method and used to catalyze the direct vapor-phase oxycarbonylation of methanol to dimethyl carbonate (DMC). The effect of reductive agent and copper salt precursor on catalyst structure and catalytic performance were investigated, the catalysts were characterized by XRD, H2-TPR techniques. Using Cu (CH3COO)2 as precursor, glucose as reductive agent, when loading amount was 17.1%, the Cu2O/AC catalyst shows the best performance for DMC synthesis. Under the condition of CO/MeOH/O2=5/11/1, SV=6625h-1, the average STY of DMC in 9 hrs running was 71.96mg/(g·h), and selectivity of DMC was 83.13%.

Direct vapor-phase methanol carbonylation, without any methyl iodide in the feed as a promoter, was carried out over NiCl2-CuCl2/HMOR catalysts. The results showed that NiCl2-CuCl2/HMOR catalysts exhibited high activity for methanol carbonylation. The optimum component of the composite catalyst was 5wt% NiCl2 and 15wt% CuCl2. In addition, the effects of reaction pressure and temperature on catalytic performance of 5%NiCl2-15%CuCl2/HMOR catalyst were investigated. It was revealed that methanol conversion of 84.2% and carbonylation selectivity of 73.5% could be obtained under the optimum reaction conditions of P=1.5MPa and T=623K.

Niobium- and tantalum-containing mesoporous molecular sieves MCM-41 have been synthesized, and applied as a catalyst for vapor phase Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime to ε-caprolactam. NbMCM-41 catalyst exhibited high catalytic performance in the vapor phase Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime. The oxime conversions were almost 100% and the lactam selectivities were around 80%. The lactam selectivities of NbMCM-41 catalyst were higher than those of AlMCM-41 catalyst. However, TaMCM-41 catalyst exhibited lower catalytic performance than AlMCM-41 catalyst, and it was fast deactivated with time. These results may be due to the acidity difference among the catalysts. The results from NH3-TPD showed that NbMCM-41 catalyst possessed weak and medium acid sites, while TaMCM-41 catalyst possessed only very weak acid sites. AlMCM-41 catalyst also exhibited only weak acid sites.
