Financing culture and arts is a difficult task to achieve, especially due to the fact that the revenues ob-tained from such activities may not be enough to cover the costs. This has been claimed to be true for certain cultural activities or events, such as concerts, and is named Baumol’s cost disease. Although other forms of cultural and artistic activity can entirely rely upon the revenues earned, many types of artistic creation depend on public financing or sponsorship. With the advent and democratisation of Internet-based technologies, crowdfunding has become a convenient tool to raise funds in order to fi-nance cultural activities. The aim of this paper is to investigate to what extent cultural and artistic pro-jects are likely to receive financing through crowdfunding. The study is based on the main Romanian crowdfunding platforms and analyses the success rate of crowdfunding projects in culture and arts.

Abstract We develop a novel bi-harmonic $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 superspace formulation of the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory (SYM) in four dimensions. In this approach, the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 SYM superfield constraints are solved in terms of on-shell $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 harmonic superfields. Such an approach provides a convenient tool of constructing the manifestly $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 supersymmetric invariants and further rewriting them in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 harmonic superspace. In particular, we present $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 superfield form of the leading term in the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 SYM effective action which was known previously in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 superspace formulation.

Purpose – This study aims at capturing the perspectives of construction professionals into a classified taxonomy of the various characteristics of smart buildings and at developing an index able to define their level of smartness. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire survey has been administrated to construction professionals in the service of designers, constructors and owners. Results have been analyzed with the Kruskal–Wallis test and they have been used to develop a smartness index. Findings – Designers and owners are more focused on the energy issue than constructors. The energy captures the attention of practitioners with less years of experience, confirming that the awareness of the energy topic is rather recent. Originality/value – The main characteristics of smart buildings have been structured in domains and subdomains. Their importance has been rated by construction professional and a smartness index for smart building has been developed to provide with a convenient tool for evaluation and benchmarking.

The phase diagram of the magnetorheological suspension allowing for the modulated phases in the Hele-Shaw cell under the action of the normal field is calculated. The phase boundaries between the stripe, the hexagonal and the unmodulated phases in dependence on the layer thickness and the magnetic field strength are found. The existence of the transitions between the stripe and the hexagonal phases at the corresponding variation of the physical parameters is illustrated by the numerical simulation of the concentration dynamics in the Hele-Shaw cell. It is remarked that those transitions in the case of the magnetorheological suspensions can be caused by the compression or the expansion of the layer. Among the features noticed at the numerical simulation of the concentration dynamics in the Hele-Shaw cell are: the stripe patterns formed from the preexisting hexagonal structures are more ordered than arising from the initial randomly perturbed state; at the slightly perturbed boundary between the concentrated and diluted phases the hexagonal and the inverted hexagonal phases are formed and others.
