Honey has been documented as the oldest traditional medicine. It has been effective in suppressing inflammation, wound repair enhancer, and rapid autolytic debridement. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the role of Saudi Arabia Talh honey (Acacia nilotica) dressing as a good alternative in care of diabetic foot (DFU) healing activity for twenty patients, wound total bacterial count, and serum cytokines levels (IFN-γ, IL-1, and IL-6). The results showed that Talh honey stimulates the wound healing process, broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, and reduction in the proinflammatory cytokines IFN-γ, IL-1, and IL-6 levels. It could be concluded that Talh honey bioactivities enhance wound healing by promoting tissue growth leading to wound repair, antibacterial, and reduction of inflammation.

Abstract Background The skin wound healing process is regulated by various cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors. Recent reports have demonstrated that spermine/spermidine (SPD) promote wound healing through urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA)/uPA receptor (uPAR) signaling in vitro. Here, we investigated whether the systemic and topical administration of SPD would accelerate the skin wound-repair process in vivo.Methods A skin wound repair model was established using C57BL/6 J mice. SPD was mixed with white petrolatum for topical administration. For systemic administration, SPD mixed with drinking water was orally administered. Changes in wound size over time were calculated using digital photography.Results Systemic and topical SPD treatment significantly accelerated skin wound healing. The administration of SPD promoted the uPA/uPAR pathway in wound sites. Moreover, topical treatment with SPD enhanced the expression of IL-6 and TNF-α in wound sites. Scratch and cell proliferation assays revealed that SPD administration accelerated scratch wound closure and cell proliferation in vitro.Conclusion These results indicate that treatment with SPD promotes skin wound healing through activation of the uPA/uPAR pathway and induction of the inflammatory response in wound sites. The administration of SPD might contribute to new effective treatments to accelerate skin wound healing.

Background: hydrogels prepared with natural inorganic excipients and spring waters are commonly used in medical hydrology. Design of these clay-based formulations continues to be a field scarcely addressed. Safety and wound healing properties of different fibrous nanoclay/spring water hydrogels were addressed. Methods: in vitro biocompatibility, by means of MTT assay, and wound healing properties were studied. Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy was used to study the morphology of fibroblasts during the wound healing process. Results: all the ingredients demonstrated to be biocompatible towards fibroblasts. Particularly, the formulation of nanoclays as hydrogels improved biocompatibility with respect to powder samples at the same concentration. Spring waters and hydrogels were even able to promote in vitro fibroblasts motility and, therefore, accelerate wound healing with respect to the control. Conclusion: fibrous nanoclay/spring water hydrogels proved to be skin-biocompatible and to possess a high potential as wound healing formulations. Moreover, these results open new prospects for these ingredients to be used in new therapeutic or cosmetic formulations.

The development of biomaterials with the potential to accelerate wound healing is a great challenge in biomedicine. In this study, four types of samples including pepsin soluble collagen sponge (PCS), acid soluble collagen sponge (ACS), bovine collagen electrospun I (BCE I) and bovine collagen electrospun II (BCE II) were used as wound dressing materials. We showed that the PCS, ACS, BCE I and BCE II treated rats increased the percentage of wound contraction, reduced the inflammatory infiltration, and accelerated the epithelization and healing. PCS, ACS, BCE I, and BCE II significantly enhanced the total protein and hydroxyproline level in rats. ACS could induce more fibroblasts proliferation and differentiation than PCS, however, both PCS and ACS had a lower effect than BCE I and BCE II. PCS, ACS, BCE I, and BCE II could regulate deposition of collagen, which led to excellent alignment in the wound healing process. There were similar effects on inducing the level of cytokines including EGF, FGF, and vascular endothelial marker CD31 among these four groups. Accordingly, this study disclosed that collagens (PCS and ACS) from tilapia skin and bovine collagen electrospun (BCE I and BCE II) have significant bioactivity and could accelerate wound healing rapidly and effectively in rat model.

Haruan is a kind of freshwater fishes commonly found in South Kalimantan. Haruan extract contains nutritional substancessuch as albumin, Zn, Fe, Cu, and unsaturated fatty acid which can help accelerate wound healing. The aim of this studywas to histopathologically assess the effect of 100%, 50%, and 25%haruan extract compared to aquadest and ibuprofenon macrophages count in inflammation phase of wistar rats’ buccal mucosa wound healing. This research was a trueexperimental with post test-only with control design. Samples used were 30 wistar rats divided into 5 groups, 100%, 50%,25% haruan extract treatment groups, ibuprofen treatment group as positive control, and aquadest treatment group asnegative control. Mean macrophages counted on day 3 of 100%, 50%, 25% haruan extract treatment groups aquadest,and ibuprofenl were 2.05, 4.4, 3.9, 3.3, 2.4 respectively. In conclusion, haruan extract had a significant effect in decreasingmacrophages count in inflammation phase of wound healing.

Epithelial regeneration is an essential wound healing process, and recent work suggests that different types of exosomes (Exos) can improve wound repair outcomes by promoting such epithelial regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is known to facilitate enhanced wound healing, yet the mechanisms underlying its activity are poorly understood. To explore these mechanisms, we first isolated PRP-derived Exos (PRP-Exos). Using immortalized keratinocytes (HaCaT cells) treated with PBS, PRP, or PRP-Exos, we conducted a series of in vitro Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), EdU, scratch wound, and transwell assays. We then established a wound defect model in vivo in mice and assessed differences in the mRNA expression within these wounds to better understand the basis for PRP-mediated wound healing. The functions of PRP-Exos and USP15 in the context of wound healing were then confirmed through additional in vitro and in vivo experiments. We found that PRP-Exos effectively promoted the in vitro proliferation, migration, and wound healing activity of HaCaT cells. USP15 was further identified as a key mediator through which these PRP-Exos were able to promote tissue repair both in vitro and in vivo. At a mechanistic level, USP15 enhanced the functional properties of HaCaT cells by promoting EIF4A1 deubiquitination. Thus, PRP-Exos and USP15 represent promising tools that can promote wound healing via enhancing epithelial regeneration.

Haruan is Kalimantan’s indigenous fish which has the potency to accelerate wound healing. Haruan extract hassubstantial properties such as albumin, Zn,Cu, and Feto accelerate wound healing. The purpose of this study is to assessthe effect of haruan extract on wistar rats buccal mucosa wound healing on day 1, 3, 5, and 7 histopathologically. Thisstudy was purely experimental with pretest-posttest with control group design. Samples were divided into 4 treatmentgroups, haruan extract 25%, 50%, 100% treatment groups and aquadest treatment group as negative control, eachtreatment wasperformed for 7 days. Neocapillariescount reached its peak on day 5. Mean neocapillaries scoring of eachgroup was 12, 16.5, 18.5, 6 respectively. Two way Anova and post hoc LSD tests presented a significant differencebetween negative control and haruan extract groups. In conclusion, haruan extract treatment significantly increasedneocapillaries count in wound healing process.

<em>Postpartum mothers with an indication of episiotomy will experience a higher level of pain. This birth canal trauma is acute and is expected to recover in a short period of time, can be measured, and without serious complications. The aim of this study was to identify the healing process of postpartum maternal perineal wounds. The intervention was carried out on 31 postpartum mothers with the selection using purposive sampling technique. Maternity cool gel pad (MCGP) which was applied to the perineal wound care intervention on the 2nd and 3rd day after delivery showed the wound healing process was observed using the REEDA measuring instrument and analyzed using the T one sample test. The repair of the wound repair scale from the mean REEDA score (10.81 ± 2.98) occurred in all wounds of the study respondents at post intervention (5.32 ± 1.73). Maternity cool gel pad intervention assisted the wound healing process in post intervention data (P &lt;0.005). The results of this study can be indicative of an inflammatory response locally in perineal wounds, but further research is needed to observe the impact of perineal wound healing with a combination of methods that can help evaluate the perineal wound repair process that can be done by mothers independently at home.</em>

Domestic chicken eggshells contain calcium and protein that could be useful in wound healing process. This research was conducted to determine whether domestic chicken eggshells can accelerate wound healing. Twenty one male Swiss-Webster mice  with 2 cm incision were divided into 3 groups. Negative control group were given Carboxymethyl cellulose 1% (CMC), positive control group were given feracrylum 1% (FER), and the eggshells group given domestic chicken eggshells powder (KT). Treatment and data mesurement was measured every day until  the 7th day. On the 7th  day the average length of the wound were analyzed and the skin tissue is taken for microscopic examination. Data analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Post Hoc Least Significant Difference (LSD) with p=0,05. On macroscopic examination, there were  highly significant differences between KT compared to CMC and highly significant differences between KT compared to FER. the average length of wound on the 7th day on KT 0,63 cm shorter than CMC 1,07 (p=0,000) and FER 0,81 cm (p=0,003). On microscopic examination, the degree of reepithelization on KT groups are severe, moderate for collagen density, fibroblasts density, subepithelial neutrophil density, degree of edema, and mild for angiogenesis. We conclude domestic chicken eggshells powder can accelerate wound healing. Key words: domestic chicken eggshells, incision wound, wound healing
