The exposed facets of NH2-UiO-66 were regulated and the facets junction constructed by (100) and (111) facets was demonstrated, which gave tetra-decahedral NH2-UiO-66 the best photocatalytic performance.

In this study, we prepared carbon self-doped carbon nitride nanosheets through a glucose synergic co-condensation method. In the carbon self-doped structure, the N atoms in the triazine rings were substituted by C atoms, resulting in enhanced visible-light photocatalytic hydrogen production, which is three-times higher than that of bulk carbon nitride. The enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen production was attributed to the higher charge-carrier transfer rate and widened light absorption range of the carbon nitride nanosheets after carbon self-doping. Thus, this work highlights the importance of carbon self-doping for improving the photocatalytic performance. Meanwhile, it provides a feasible method for the preparation of carbon self-doped carbon nitride without destroying the 2D conjugated backbone structures.

A nanocavity structure with Au–S carrier-selective layer was constructed to enhance photocatalytic H2 evolution activity, improving ∼13.8 times compared to Au/CdS. The excellent performance is mainly caused by effective hole transfer of Au–S layer.

Green production of hydrogen is essential for the development of a hydrogen economy. In this study, the photocatalytic water-splitting technology is developed to harness solar energy for production of renewable hydrogen. Pt-TiO2 nanosheets were fabricated by a facile hydrothermal method, followed by photo-reduction of Pt(acac)2 on B,F-codoped TiO2 with reactive facets. The as-prepared photocatalysts were characterised by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The photocatalytic hydrogen production performance was systematically investigated under UV-visible irradiation. The parametric results indicate that the TiO2 nanosheet structure, Pt loading and photocatalyst concentration have significant impacts on the photocatalytic hydrogen production. The highest hydrogen production rate obtained is 5,086 μmol h-1g-1.
