CH3 migration-controlled fragmentations via conventional TS and roaming pathways are reported in the dissociative photoionization of 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol, which are examined by synchrotron photoionization spectroscopy and theoretical calculations.

C2H5O2 plus its gauche and trans conformers are studied using synchrotron-based VUV photoionization mass spectrometry and theoretical calculations, and it is found that the gauche conformer has favorable Franck–Condon factors in photoionization.

Abstract The ionization potentials of sulfurtetrafluoride have been measured using threshold photoelectron spectroscopy and com pared with theoretical calculations. The decay of SF4+ has been studied by photoionization mass spectrometry and photoion-photoelectron coincidence. The break-down graphs reveal competing decay processes. Bond dissociation energies in SF4+ have been calculated.

Dissociative photoionization mass spectrometry has been used to measure the PhCO+ appearance energies for several benzoyl compounds. Based on these threshold measurements, an experimental 298 K heat of formation of 738.8 ± 3.3 kJ mol−1 is obtained for the benzoyl cation. The experimental results are supported by high-level ab initio calculations.
