Herein, a novel Ce3+ self-doped CeOx/FeOCl composite was successfully prepared by a facile method for the first time, which showed remarkable catalytic activity as a Fenton catalyst in the degradation of phenol under the conditions of a neutral solution, room temperature and natural light.

MIL-101(Fe) was explored for the first time for the catalytic conversion of glucose into lactic acid (LA). The as-synthesized MIL-101(Fe) was successfully characterized, and its higher specific surface area, porosity, and feasible acid properties were confirmed to determine the remarkable catalytic activity in glucose-to-LA conversion (up to 25.4% yield) compared with other catalysts like MIL-101(Cr, Al) and UiO-66(Zr). The reaction parameters including temperature, reaction time, and substrate species as well as catalyst reusability were discussed.

The catalуtic activitу of К2СО3 in the carboxуlation reaction of phenol with sodium ethуl carbonate has been investigated. The aim of the research was to develop a new efficient method for producing salicylic acid which is widely used in pharmaceuticals and other type preparations, also used in agriculture as an effective plant growth promoter. The most widespread synthesis method of salicylic acid is the Kolbe-Schmitt of phenol carboxylation, but it has a number of serious disadvantages. One of the alternative methods is the use of alkali metal salts of mono ethers of the carbonic acids as carboxylating agents in the carboxylation of phenol. In order to improve the method of production of salicylic acid, the catalytic activity of the К2СО3 catalyst at the carboxylation of phenol with sodium ethyl carbonate was studied for the first time. The effect of the process parameters (temperature, pressure, reaction time, ratio of catalyst to carboxylating agent) on the yield of the target product was studied. It was found optimal conditions: T=160°C, PCO2=10 atm, τ=7(4+3) h, [К2СО3]:[SEC]=0.07:1 at which the yield of the target product was 80%. The yields of the target product at phenol carboxylation with sodium ethyl carbonate in the presence and without K2CO3 were determined. It was found that К2СО3 shows the catalytic activity during carboxylation reaction.

Nanocrystalline Fe3O4 powder was produced via the organic combustion route using L-arginine for the first time as fuel. The prepared yields is considered through several investigates, such as, DRS, PL, XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, and VSM. The current study existence limited only toward the antimicrobial activity that the limit Fe3O4. The influences for catalytic performances were explained in factor, while the samples characterization was presented.

Highly ultrafine defective Pt nanoparticles (NPs) encapsulated in the mesopores of MIL-101 (Pt(Co)@MIL-101) were achieved for the first time through a chemical dealloying approach. The obtained material could provide more active sites to contact reactants and showed superior catalytic activity towards the hydrogenation of nitroarenes under mild conditions.

The transformation of aromatic nitrocompounds into amines by CO/H2O is catalyzed by palladium(II) complexes. Recently, we have proposed that the catalytic cycle includes Pd0 as the transient intermediate and herein, for the first time, we describe the application of palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) stabilized by monodentate N-heterocyclic ligands as nanocatalysts facilitating the reduction of Ar–NO2 into Ar–NH2 by CO/H2O. Among the series—Pd(II) complexes, PdNPs and commercial Pdblack—the highest catalytic activity was observed for PdNPs (3.0 ± 0.5 nm) stabilized by 4-Me-pyridine in the presence of 2-Cl-pyridine. The results may be helpful for mechanistic considerations on the role of metallic nanoparticles as active species in other organic processes.

Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) have recently attracted much attention as catalysts in various reactions. Organocatalysts have emerged as sustainable alternatives to metal-based catalysts in green organic synthesis, with concerted systems containing CNFs that are expected to provide next-generation catalysis. Herein, for the first time, we report that a representative organocatalyst comprising an unexpected combination of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized CNFs and proline shows significantly enhanced catalytic activity in an asymmetric Michael addition.
