We developed a new hybrid sorbent (HZO-PS) by loading nano-Zr(OH)4 within a cation-exchanger. HZO-PS can combine the strong sorption affinities of HZO and charged functional groups (R–SO3−) enrichment of matrix for highly efficient Cd(ii) removal.

A simple economical, and highly efficient catalytic system for the synthesis of diaryl sulfides by a copper-catalysed coupling of aryl halides and thioacetate in water has been developed. A variety of aryl halides reacted with thioacetate to give the desired products in high yields up to 95%. The present catalysis protocol tolerated a wide range of functional groups, including amino, fluoro, and carboxyl moieties.

A highly efficient catalytic silylcupration of activated alkynes is reported. Upon reaction with silylboronates and methanol in THF at room temperature in the presence of copper(I) fluoride tris(triphenylphosphine), a range of ynamides and propiolates were found to undergo a smooth silylcupration. This reaction, which tolerates various functional groups, affords a straightforward and efficient entry to the corresponding β-silylenamides and -acrylates, which were formed with high levels of regio- and stereoselectivities.

Nickel-catalyzed decarbonylative thioetherification of acyl fluorides has been developed. This transformation allows an array of acyl fluorides to react with thiophenols. A wide range of functional groups are well tolerated and the corresponding sulfides can be obtained in good to excellent yields. This protocol provides the formation of diverse carbon-sulfur bonds via a highly efficient decarbonylative process.
