In this study, a one-step isothermal method combining polymerase spiral reaction (PSR) with reverse transcription (RT-PSR) was established for rapid and specific detection of novel astroviruses causing fatal gout in goslings (N-GoAstV). The one-step RT-PSR was accomplished at the optimal temperature of 62°C and time of 40 min and used primers simply designed as conventional PCR primers, and the results of detection were visible to the naked eye. The detection limit of PSR was above 34.7 copies/μL at a 95% probability level according to probit regression analysis. The assay specifically detected N-GoAstV, and no other reference viruses were detected. These results suggest that the newly established RT-PSR assay could, in one step, accomplish reverse-transcription, amplification, and result determination providing a visible, convenient, rapid, and cost-effective test that can be carried out onsite, in order to ensure timely quarantine of N-GoAstV-infected birds, leading to effective disease control.

We synthesized the Schiff base ligands H2L1–H2L4 and their La(III) complexes and characterized them by the analytical and spectroscopic methods. We investigated their electrochemical and antimicrobial activity properties. The electrochemical properties of the ligands H2L1–H2L4 and their La(III) complexes were studied at the different scan rates (100 and 200 mV), different pH ranges (), and in the different solvents. The electrooxidation of the Schiff base ligands involves a reversible transfer of two electrons and two protons in solutions of pH up to 5.5, in agreement with the one-step two-electron mechanism. In solutions of pH higher than 5.5, the process of electrooxidation reaction of the Schiff base ligands and their La(III) complexes follows an ECi mechanism. The antimicrobial activities of the ligands and their complexes were studied. The thermal properties of the metal complexes were studied under nitrogen atmosphere in the range of temperature 20–1000°C.

Taking advantages of both the well-known α,β-unsaturated structure and the special nucleophilicity of organic amines toward its acceptor moieties, intramolecular charge transfer as a signaling mechanism is used to design and synthesize a new ratiometric chromophoric fluorescent probe (BI-CA-ID) with large emission shifts toward organic amines. This probe is employed for the detection of organic amines with high selectivity and sensitivity and a “naked-eye” color change (from red to colorless). Ultraviolet–visible and fluorescence spectrometric measurements are used to determine detection limits as low as 0.024 and 0.43 μM. Furthermore, nucleophilic addition of the amine on the α,β-unsaturated of BI-CA-ID indicated that the sensing mechanism occurs via interruption of the π-conjugation.

Three zinc (II) complexes of the amino acid Schiff base were synthesized by the one step reaction of amino acid with aldehyde, zinc acetate in solvent-free. The compositions and structures of the complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, FTIR, XRD, TG-DSC. The compositions of the complexes are ZnL•nH2O (L = sal-leu, sal-ala, van-leu; sal = salicylaldehyde; van = vanillic aldehyde; leu = leucine; ala = alanine). Infrared spectra of the complexes indicate that the Schiff base ligands are formed, zinc ion is coordinated to the Schiff base ligands as terdentate with O, O and N donors from carboxylic, phenolic and imino groups respectively, the coordination numbers of zinc ion is four. The possible pyrolysis reactions in the thermal decomposition process of the complexes, the experimental and calculated percentage mass loss are also given.

An aniline-functionalized naphthalene dialdehyde Schiff base fluorescent probe L with aggregation-induced enhanced emission (AIEE) characteristics was synthesized via a simple one-step condensation reaction and exhibited excellent sensitivity and selectivity towards copper(II) ions in aqueous media with a fluorescence “ turn-off ” phenomenon. The detection limit of the probe is 1.64 × 10−8 mol·L−1. Furthermore, according to the results of the UV-vis/fluorescence titrations, Job’s plot method and 1H-NMR titrations, a 1:2 stoichiometry was identified. The binding constant between L and Cu2+ was calculated to be Ka = 1.222 × 103. In addition, the AIEE fluorescent probe L could be applied to detection in real water samples with satisfactory recoveries in the range 99.10–102.90% in lake water and 98.49–102.37% in tap water.

Doping Ag-enhanced and glutathione-stabilized Au nanoclusters (GSH–Ag/AuNCs) were prepared by the one-step ultraviolet radiation combined with microwave heating method. The effects of the molar ratio of Au–Ag and different types of energy suppliers on the fluorescent performance of GSH–Ag/AuNCs were studied in detail. After that, a new ratio fluorescent probe (RF-probe) based on the mixing of GSH–Ag/AuNCs with carbon dots (CDs) was designed for sensitive and selective determination of copper gluconate (CG) and cupric sulfate (CS). For the CDs–GSH–Ag/AuNCs RF-probe, the fluorescence (FL) of CDs (at 440[Formula: see text]nm) and that of alloy nanoclusters (NCs) (at 605[Formula: see text]nm) were, respectively, unaffected and strongly quenched in the presence of CG/CS at [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]nm coming from the dynamic quenching process. Corresponding linear ranges and limit of detection (LOD) of the RF-probe for the CG/CS assay were estimated to be 0.17–6.20/0.17–5.62[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]mol/L and 16.80/15.95[Formula: see text]nmol/L, respectively. Furthermore, the proposed RF-probe was successfully used for the assays of CG in CG tablets and CG additive, and CS in infant formula and CS additive, respectively.
