The clinkerization processes to form belite clinkers, with theoretical compositions close to 60 wt% of Ca2SiO4, have been studiedin situby high-resolution high-energy (λ = 0.30 Å) synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction. In order to obtain active belite cements, different amounts of K2O, Na2O and SO3have been added. The existence range of the high-temperature phases has been established and, furthermore, Rietveld quantitative phase analyses at high temperature have been performed for all patterns. The following high-temperature reactions have been investigated: (i) polymorphic transformations of dicalcium silicate, \alpha_{\rm L}'-Ca2SiO4↔ \alpha_{\rm H}'-Ca2SiO4from 1170 to 1230 K, and \alpha_{\rm H}'-Ca2SiO4↔ α-Ca2SiO4from 1500 to 1600 K; (ii) melting of the aluminates phases, Ca3Al2O6and Ca4(Al2Fe2)O10, above ∼1570 K; and (iii) reaction of Ca2SiO4with CaO to yield Ca3SiO5above ∼1550 K. Moreover, in all the studied compositions the temperature of the polymorphic transformation \alpha_{\rm H}'-Ca2SiO4↔ α-Ca2SiO4has decreased with the addition of activators. Finally, active belite clinkers were produced as the final samples contained α-belite phases.

The one-to-one correspondence has been revealed between a set of cosets of the Mathieu groupM11, a set of blocks of the Steiner systemS(4, 5, 11) and 11-vertex equi-edged triangulated clusters. The revealed correspondence provides the structure interpretation of theS(4, 5, 11) system: mapping of the biplane 2-(11, 5, 2) onto the Steiner systemS(4, 5, 11) determines uniquely the 11-vertex tetrahedral cluster, and the automorphisms of theS(4, 5, 11) system determine uniquely transformations of the said 11-vertex tetrahedral cluster. The said transformations correspond to local reconstructions during polymorphic transformations in metals. The proposed symmetry description of polymorphic transformation in metals is consistent with experimental data.

The [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] compounds have been synthesized and low-temperature modification single crystals obtained from the high temperature modification by polymorphic transformation. The method of high temperature X-ray diffractometer has been used to study [Formula: see text] (x = 0.05 Zn and Cd) layered single crystal. It was established that such a substitution has a significant impact on the number and temperature of polymorphic transformations. Crystallgraphic parameters were determined for each phase. Temperature dependence of lattice parameters were obtained and determined change mechanism of lattice parameters by influence of temperature.

To ensure optimal auditory development for the acquisition of spoken language, children with hearing loss require early diagnosis, effective ongoing audiological management, well fit and maintained hearing technology, and appropriate family-centered early intervention. When these elements are in place, children with hearing loss can achieve developmental and communicative outcomes that are comparable to their hearing peers. However, for these outcomes to occur, clinicians—early interventionists, speech-language pathologists, and pediatric audiologists—must participate in a dynamic process that requires careful monitoring of countless variables that could impact the child's skill acquisition. This paper addresses some of these variables or “red flags,” which often are indicators of both minor and major issues that clinicians may encounter when delivering services to young children with hearing loss and their families.

Summary: COVID-19 is a recently identified illness that is associated with thromboembolic events. We report a case of pulmonary embolism in a patient with COVID-19, treated by catheter directed thrombectomy. A 57 year old patient presented to the emergency center with severe COVID-19 symptoms and developed massive pulmonary embolism. The patient was treated with catheter directed thrombolysis (CDT) and recovered completely. Coagulopathy associated with COVID-19 is present in all severe cases and is a dynamic process. We describe a case of massive/high risk pulmonary embolism, in a patient with COVID-19 receiving full anticoagulation, who was treated by percutaneous intervention. CDT can be an additional therapeutic option in patients with COVID-19 and pulmonary embolism that present with rapid clinical collapse.
