As a durable electrocatalyst for water oxidation, a hierarchical heterostructured CuO@ZnCo layered double hydroxide nanowire array on a copper foil requires a low overpotential of 270 mV to attain 10 mA cm−2 in 1.0 M KOH.

Sulfur nanoparticle intercalated CoAl-LDH as a robust electrocatalyst for water oxidation reaction at a low overpotential of 250 mV, high current density of 7.9 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 61 mV dec−1 under neutral pH condition.

A well-designed NiCuCr-LDH was prepared using a simple microwave method. According to the OER results, doping optimal amount of Cu2+ into NiCr-LDH displayed superior OER activity, due to decreased bandgap energy and improved charge transfer.
