Novel visible-light responded aluminosilicophosphate-5 (SAPO-5)/g-C3N4 composite has been easily constructed by thermal polymerization for the mixture of SAPO-5, NH4Cl, and dicyandiamide. The photocatalytic activity of SAPO-5/g-C3N4 is evaluated by degrading RhB (30 mg/L) under visible light illumination (λ > 420 nm). The effects of SAPO-5 incorporation proportion and initial RhB concentration on the photocatalytic performance have been discussed in detail. The optimized SAPO-5/g-C3N4 composite shows promising degradation efficiency which is 40.6% higher than that of pure g-C3N4. The degradation rate improves from 0.007 min−1 to 0.022 min−1, which is a comparable photocatalytic performance compared with other g-C3N4-based heterojunctions for dye degradation. The migration of photo-induced electrons from g-C3N4 to the Al site of SAPO-5 should promote the photo-induced electron-hole pairs separation rate of g-C3N4 efficiently. Furthermore, the redox reactions for RhB degradation occur on the photo-induced holes in the g-C3N4 and Al sites in SAPO-5, respectively. This achievement not only improves the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4 efficiently, but also broadens the application of SAPOs in the photocatalytic field.

Using solar energy to remove antibiotics from aqueous environments via photocatalysis is highly desirable. In this work, a novel type-II heterojunction photocatalyst, MgSn(OH)6/SnO2, was successfully prepared via a facile one-pot in situ hydrothermal method at 220 °C for 24 h. The obtained heterojunctions were characterized via powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated for photodegradation of tetracycline solution under ultraviolet irradiation. The initial concentration of tetracycline solution was set to be 20 mg/L. The prepared heterojunctions exhibited superior photocatalytic activity compared with the parent MgSn(OH)6 and SnO2 compounds. Among them, the obtained MgSn(OH)6/SnO2 heterojunction with MgCl2·6H2O:SnCl4·5H2O = 4:5.2 (mmol) displayed the highest photocatalytic performance and the photodegradation efficiency conversion of 91% could be reached after 60 min under ultraviolet irradiation. The prepared heterojunction maintained its performance after four successive cycles of use. Active species trapping experiments demonstrated that holes were the dominant active species. Hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions had minor effects on the photocatalytic oxidation of tetracycline. Photoelectrochemical measurements were used to investigate the photocatalytic mechanism. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity could be assigned to the formation of a type-II junction photocatalytic system, which was beneficial for efficient transfer and separation of photogenerated electrons and holes. This research provides an in situ growth strategy for the design of highly efficient photocatalysts for environmental restoration.

Introducing alkali halides during thermal condensation of melamine disturbs periodic ordering in the basal plane, reduces the band gap, and facilitates charge carrier transfer and separation, and thus enhances the photocatalytic performance of g-C3N4.

β-Ga2O3 has attracted considerable attention as an alternative photocatalyst to replace conventional TiO2 under ultraviolet-C irradiation due to its high reduction and oxidation potential. In this study, to enhance the photocatalytic activity of β-Ga2O3, nanofibers are formed via the electrospinning method, and Si atoms are subsequently doped. As the Si concentration in the β-Ga2O3 nanofiber increases, the optical bandgap of the β-Ga2O3 nanofibers continuously decreases from 4.5 eV (intrinsic) to 4.0 eV for the Si-doped (2.4 at. %) β-Ga2O3 nanofibers, and accordingly, the photocatalytic activity of the β-Ga2O3 nanofibers is enhanced. This higher photocatalytic performance with Si doping is attributed to the increased doping-induced carriers in the conduction band edges. This differs from the traditional mechanism in which the doping-induced defect sites in the bandgap enhance separation and inhibit the recombination of photon-generated carriers.

Abstract In this paper, in order to improved the photocatalytic activity of Bi2WO6, Bi2WO6 and ZIF-8 were successfully combined by in-situ growth method for the first time. The addition of ZIF-8 effectively inhibited the recombination of photogenerated electron hole pairs and further improved the electron utilization efficiency, and superoxide anion was introduced to greatly improve the photocatalytic activity. The performance of Bi2WO6/ZIF-8 in the photodegradation of tetracycline (TC) was studied under different conditions of proportions of ZIF-8, dosage of catalyst and concentration of TC. The results indicated that B/Z/5/1 (10mg) had the best photocatalytic activity, and 97.8% of TC (20mg/L) could be degraded in 80 minutes under UV light, the rate constant (k) for TC degradation was almost 3 times that of Bi2WO6. The effects of pH, HA and inorganic anions on the degradation of TC were studied in simulated real water. Further, B/Z/5/1 could be reutilized up to five cycles without reduction of efficiency and catalysis performance. Therefore, Bi2WO6/ZIF-8 heterojunction composite material can be utilized as an efficient photocatalyst for remediation of environmental pollution.

The ferroelectric barium–strontium titanate (BST) multi-layer structure has been formed directly on silicon carbide by serial deposition and “in situ” annealing of layers. This approach allowed us to achieve the high-quality perovskite lattice of ferroelectric that provides the best combination of high tunability and low losses for BST/SiC structures at microwaves. Electric characteristics of BST/SiC planar capacitor structures were studied under the high level of microwave power for the first time. The BST/SiC structure consisted of highly oriented ferroelectric film on highly heat-conducting substrate have demonstrated the absence of the overheating of the active area of the capacitor under dissipated power density up to 125 W/mm 2 .
