A new type of indole-based porous organic polymer with amine units (PAIN) has been constructed, which possesses encouraging and effective adsorption properties for trinitrotoluene by taking advantage of the synergistic effect of dipole–π and donor–acceptor interactions.

A new type of bispyridine (bpy) incorporated POP was prepared via a cobalt-catalyzed acetylene trimerization. Subsequent metalation of CuCl2 gave POP-Cu(ii) which displayed outstanding olefin oxidation activity.

A new type of porous organic polymer (POP) based heterogeneous catalyst Cu-POP was prepared by immobilizing Cu(ii)Cl2 into bpy containing POP prepared via alkyne–azide cycloaddition. It showed good catalytic oxidations towards various olefins.
