Spontaneous full photocatalytic water splitting on 2D MoSe2/SnSe2 and WSe2/SnSe2 vdW heterostructures

The heterostructures have the HER and OER in water-splitting taking place separately on the two components with the STH energy conversion efficiencies up to 10.5%. The Se-vacancy makes the two reactions occur spontaneously in pure water.

2D porous MnIn2Se4 nanosheets have been synthesized for the first time via a simple hydrothermal method. The intrinsic property of the hitherto unexplored MnIn2Se4 for photocatalytic water splitting was clearly studied, and the H2 evolution rate reached 35 μmol g−1 h−1 in pure water.

We report the development of the C3N4 structure by integrating two different structures: (i) two identical layers as AA-stacked C3N4 and (ii) intercalating one different layer between two identical layers as ABA-stacked C3N4.
