A pyridyl based Schiff base resulted in a 2D staircase network (CP1) with Cd(ii) when ClO4− is the counter anion while the use of benzene-1,3-disulphonate counter anion resulted in a novel 3D Cd(ii) coordination polymer with threefold interpenetration (CP2).

For the spin crossover coordination polymer [Fe(L1)(bipy)]n (where L1 is a N2O22− coordinating Schiff base-like ligand bearing a phenazine fluorophore and bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine), there is compelling additional evidence of a spin state transition.

A 1-D coordination polymer [Sm(HL)2(NO3)]n was constructed using a new flexible Schiff base ligand that has a long-chain (CH2)10 backbone, and it shows dual-emissive response to metal ions, especially to Co2+ at the ppm level.
