Mesoporous Ca- and Li-doped silica materials have been synthesized in a surfactant mediated sol–gel method and the materials showed significant H2 uptake capabilities at ambient temperature and pressure.

We prepared a composite photocatalyst of Stick TiO2nanorod loaded on expanded graphite(EG).The growth of TiO2in the pores of EG by sol–gel method under normal temperature and pressure was investigated. Results sugest that pores of the EG which can load catalyst particles (TiO2nanotube) is the physical base. Stick TiO2nanorod can be well loaded on EG to form EG/TiO2composite photocatalyst. So a unique process trying to load TiO2photocatalyst on EG to EG/TiO2composite photocatalyst was developed by us.

Degradation of three chlorinated ethenes, trichloroethylene, trans-1,2-dichloroethylene and cis-1,2-dichloroethylene, by UV-light irradiatedTiO2catalyst prepared by the sol-gel method in dry air at ambient temperature have been examined by using FTIR measurement. The chlorinated ethenes rapidly decomposed to produce dichloroacethyl chloride, CO, HCl, andCOCL2. For trans- and cis-1,2-DCE systems isomerization to each other is found to be the first step of the degradation. The C = C bond of the chlorinated ethenes interacts directly withTiO2site and, consequently, the degradation results in several products on the catalyst surface in these systems.
