Newly developed host materials containing a tetrafluorophenylene bridge and carbazole derivatives exhibit extremely high glass transition temperatures of 330 °C and an external quantum efficiency of 18% in green phosphorescence organic light-emitting diodes.

A series of 9,9-diphenyl-9H-thioxanthene derivatives are reported as host materials in blue phosphorescent OLEDs, giving a maximum power efficiency of 69.7 lm W−1 and an external quantum efficiency of 29.0%.

De novo molecular platforms have been applied to build host materials for highly efficient PHOLEDs. A 9-silafluorene derivative was studied for the first time as a host and an external quantum efficiency of over 28% was achieved successfully in red PHOLEDs.
