Rhodium(iii) thiophosphinito pincer hydrido complexes were synthesised by C–H activation under exceptionally mild conditions at room temperature without additional base or irradiation and fully characterised by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.

The reactions of N-acetonylbenzimidazolium chlorides with various activated alkynes, in the presence of bases, led under mild conditions to a mixture of pyrrolo[1,2-a]benzimidazoles (3), 4-methylene-pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxaline derivatives (4) and pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxalin-4-one derivatives (5). The exocyclic enamine derivatives 4 have been fully characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. A mechanism rationalizing the formation of the enamine derivatives is proposed.

A uranium(iv) complex supported by an unusual diphosphazide ligand was prepared. Controlled, consecutive N2 loss was observed, affording well-defined uranium species that were characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.

The azidoborates [(C6F5)4–nB(N3)n]– (n = 1–3) (1–3) were synthesized by reacting the corresponding borane with [R]N3 (R = Me4N, Ph4P). To study the influence of the electron withdrawing C6F5-substituent on the boron atom, [Me4N][(C6H5)3BN3] (4) was also prepared. All compounds were fully characterized by IR, Raman, and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy in addition to characterization by single crystal diffraction analyses.Key words: azidoborate, pentafluorophenyl, multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography.
