A composite CMC–KCuFC particle adsorbent was fabricated in this study, based on the use of a CMC biopolymer cross-linked with Cu2+via a syringe pump device, serving as an efficient biosorbent for Cs ion removal and adsorption from wastewater.

A fast and facile wet chemistry method has been developed for preparing monodispersed silver coated copper composite particles. Copper powder is coated using a solution containing [Ag (NH3)] +. The effect of the copper particle size distribution, the concentrations of [Ag (NH3)] + on composite particles conductivity were investigated. The composite particle with electric conductivity of 0.8×10-3 Ω•cm is obtained at 0.8 mol/L of Ag+ and1.0 g/L of dispersing agent. Copper powder loaded with silver particles morphologies range from individual particles to small islands, to the continuous multi-layers structure with Ag+ concentration increases.

In this paper, beads-shaped hybrid sorbents composed of pectin and Prussian blue were prepared. Various ratios of pectin and Prussian blue in hybrid sorbents were tested. Obtained sorbents had high and roughly constant sorption capacity in a broad pH range (4–10), in which also the swelling index and stability of sorbents were satisfactory. The preliminary sorption studies proved that almost 100% of cesium removal efficiency may be achieved by using the proper sorbent dose. The sorption capacity of the hybrid sorbent with a 1:1 ratio of pectin to Prussian blue equaled q = 36.5 ± 0.8 mg/g (dose 3 g/L, pH = 6, temp. = 22 ± 1 °C, t = 24 h). The obtained results showed that the prepared hybrid pectin-based sorbents are promising for cesium ions removal.
