A main chain donor–acceptor copolysiloxane PBIClSi-alt-PTSi for resistor type memory has been designed and synthesized. The PBIClSi-alt-PTSi possesses high thermal stability and shows nonvolatile write-once-read many times (WORM) memory characteristics.

A series of main-chain polyimides containing azo aryl with different substituted groups have been synthesized by a condensation of corresponding N,N-dichloroethylaminoaryl azo compounds with 4,4’-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphthalic bis-imide in an alkaline DMF solution, which have high thermal stability and good solubility in organic solvents. The third-order NLO measurements made with Z-scan technique at 532 nm indicate that the polyimides containing p-nitrophenylazo and nitrobenzothiazole azo group (P2 and P3) have larger third-order nonlinear absorption coefficient (ß) and the nonlinear refractive coefficient (n2).

AbstractIn this work, the effect of inter- and intramolecular interactions of reactants and products, reactants concentration as well as the solvent effect on the ratio of E and Z isomers of isatinphenylsemicarbazones in the reaction mixture is examined. Theoretical calculations proved that Z isomers are more stable than E isomers. Experimental results confirmed the noncovalent intermolecular donor-acceptor interactions of the reactants in the reaction mixture at concentrations above 0.1 mol L−1. The E/Z isomer ratio of isatin-3-(4-phenyl)semicarbazone (I) and N-methylisatin-3-(4-phenyl)semicarbazone (II) depends on the initial concentrations of 3-amino-1-phenylurea (phenylsemicarbazide; V) and 1H-indole-2,3-dione (isatin; III), or 3-methylindol-2,3(1H)-dion (3-methylisatin; IV), respectively. Both isomers exhibit high thermal stability. Thermal E-Z isomerization takes place at temperatures above 70°C in N,N-dimethylformamide.

3,4-di-(2′-hydroxyethoxy)benzylidenemalononitrile (3) was prepared and condensed with 2,4-toluenediisocyanate, 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate and 3,3′-dimethoxy-4,4′-biphenylenediisocyanate to yield novel Y-type polyurethanes (4-6) containing 3,4-dioxybenzylidenemalononitrile groups as nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores, which are parts of the polymer backbones. The resulting polyurethanes 4-6 were soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and DMSO. Polymers 4-6 exhibited a thermal stability up to 260°C from thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) with T g values in the range of 96–152°C. The SHG coefficients (d33) of poled polymer films were around 6.8 × 10-9 esu. These poled polymers exhibited a high thermal stability of dipole alignment even at 20°C higher than T g , and no SHG decay was observed below 175°C due to the partial main chain character of the polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

AbstractSyntheses of oligoetherols with a 1,3-pyrimidine ring and boron atoms using 6-aminouracil, ethylene carbonate and boric acid has been proposed. The structure of the obtained products were determined by instrumental methods (IR, 1H-NMR and MALDI-ToF spectra). The physicochemical and thermal properties of oligoetherols were examined. The products were characterized by high thermal stability. Based on the tests performed, it was found that oligoetherols obtained from 6-aminouracil, boric acid and ethylene carbonate are suitable for the manufacturing of polyurethane foams with improved thermal stability and reduced flammability.
