Abstract 7-Methyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane-7-ium-tetrafluoroborate (2b) has been synthesized and characterized by crystal structure analysis. The crystal structure is interpreted in comparison with the parent compound 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane, and its 7-oxide and 7-sulfide. 7-Methyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phospha-tricyclo[3,3,2,1 3,7]-undecan-7-ium-iodide (6) has been prepared and characterized by 31P, 13C, and 1H NMR spectroscopy and by its IR spectrum.

The reaction of 4-hydroxy-6-methylpyran-2-one with substituted cinnamonitriles in water in the presence of triethylbenzylammonium chloride (TEBA) provide an efficient route to 2-amino-4-aryl-4H,5H-pyrano[3,2-c]pyran-5-one derivatives. The products were characterised by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis and were further confirmed by the X-ray crystal structure analysis.

Racemates of (η3-allyl)tricarbonyliron lactone complex Fe(CO)3{η1:η3-C(O)XCH2CHCMeCH2} 1a (X = O) and (η3-allyl)tricarbonyliron lactam complex 2a (X = NMe) are resolved on a preparative scale by HPLC on cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenyl)carbamate/silica gel RP-8 and the absolute configuration of (-)-2a is determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis.
