Selective oxidative coupling between equivalent aryl and tert-alkyl mercaptans was achieved under mild condition. This protocol may provide an efficient process to synthesize the unsymmetrical aryl tert-alkyl disulfides.

The development of a silica-promoted highly selective synthesis of 1,2 or 1,3-dithioethers via solvent-free one-pot tandem reactions of an allyl bromide with excess thiol at room temperature is described. The choice of silica gel, either pre-calcined or moistened with water, exhibited notable regioselectivity in the formation of dithioethers. Plausible mechanistic routes were explored and postulated.

Highly E-selective synthesis of α-fluoro-β-arylalkenyl sulfides: regioselective synthesis of α-fluoro-β-arylalkenyl sulfides has been established with gem-difluoroalkenes and sodium arysulfinates via visible-light-induced deoxygenation of S–O bonds and isomerization of alkenes. Moreover, the strategy is also applied in the late-stage modification of complex natural products and drugs.
