Novel Na3YSi2O7: Sm3+, Eu3+phosphors for white light-emitting diodes were prepared by high-temperature solid-state reaction. The photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, energy transfer from Eu2+to Tb3+are investigated in detail. The current research suggests that Na3YSi2O7: Sm3+, Eu3+phosphor is a potential candidate for application in Phosphor-converted LEDs.

Eu2+-doped Li2SrSiO4 phosphors were prepared by two different synthesis processes, the Pechini sol-gel route and solid-state reaction (SSR) method. Their morphology, crystal structure, and luminescence properties have been characterized. Li2SrSiO4:Eu2+ phosphors show broad and intensive excitation in the range of 390–480 nm and emit yellow-orange light extending from 500 to 700 nm. The luminescence efficiency of Li2SrSiO4: Eu2+ phosphors synthesized through the Pechini route is much better than that of phosphors prepared by solid-state reaction method. The application of phosphors from the Pechini route in white light emitting diodes (LEDs) has been investigated. The Commission Internationale de L’Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates and the correlated color temperature of these white LEDs have been calculated; they are comparable to corresponding values of commercial Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ converted white LEDs.

A series of Tb3+-doped Li2SrSiO4:Tb3+phosphors were prepared by high temperature solid state reaction. The morphology and the thermal stability of Li2SrSiO4:Tb3+phosphors were discussed by SEM and PL measurements, respectively. The results showed that the morphology of Li2SrSiO4:Tb3+was changed from flower-like to rod-like with increasing Tb3+-doped content. Moreover, the emission intensity measured at 3500C almost maintain with constant compared with that measured at room temperature. The results showed that Li2SrSiO4:Tb3+phosphor might be a potential phosphor for white light-emitting diodes.

Ce3+-doped 0.5La2O3-2SrO-0.5Al2O3 (LSA:Ce) phosphors had been successfully synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method under reducing atmosphere (H2/N2 =1/5). The phase, morphologies and luminescence properties of the LSA:Ce phosphors were investigated. The emission intensity of LSA:Ce phosphors was improved by the addition of SrF2 as flux, and red shift of PL spectra peak was observed in this phosphors. Research results shown that the LSA:Ce phosphors have the potential to meet the development of white light-emitting diodes.

A series of Sr6Ca4(PO4)6F2:Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphors were synthesized by traditional solid state reaction. Through controlling the ratio of Eu2+ and Mn2+, emission colors can be tuned from blue to yellow, including white-light-emitting.
