A new trimethyltin(IV) coordination polymer, [Sn(CH3)3(C7H8O2P)], has been prepared by treatment of methylphenylphosphinic acid and trimethyltin chloride with sodium ethoxide in methanol. In the solid state, the title compound adopts an infinite one-dimensional polymeric chain structure with each SnIVatom adopting a distorted trigonal–bipyramidal geometry.

The coordination polymer, namely, [Cd (L)2(phen)]n (1) (HL=2,4-dinitro-benzoic acid, phen=1,10-phenanthroline) has been hydrothermally synthesized. Compound 1 was structurally characterized by IR spectra, thermogravimetric analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffractions. The carboxylate groups of L- adopt the bridging monodentate and bidentate modes to link two Cd2+ ions, resulting in a 1-D zigzag chain structure. The solid state photoluminescent property of 1 has been investigated at room temperature.

Irreversible crystal-to-crystal transformation of 3D lead (II) coordination polymer with the ligand 1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid (HL), [Pb (L)(μ1,1-NCS)(H2O)]n(1) to 3D supramalecular compound [Pb (L)(μ2-I)]n(2) by solid state anion-replacement have been studied. Structural determination of compound 2 reveals the Pb (II) ion is five coordinated with hemidirected geometry, bonded to one nitrogen atom, two oxygen atoms from the Lˉ ligand and two iodide ions. The irreversible solid state structural transformation of compound 1 to compound 2, by anion-replacement processes under mechanochemical reaction have been verified by PXRD measurements. Nanoparticles of compound 1 was synthesized by sonochemical process and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. The SEM images showed that no morphology change occur during this solid state anion-replacement.

Melt-quenched coordination polymer glass shows exclusive H+ conductivity (8.0 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 120 °C, anhydrous) and optimal mechanical properties (42.8 Pa s at 120 °C), enables the operation of an all-solid-state proton battery from RT to 110 °C.
