TCO-less DSSC using cobalt electrolyte in a novel device structure is proposed. Dye surface passivation of TiO2 nanoparticle (TN) spacer boosts bulky Co3+ ion diffusion. Dramatic enhancement in DSSC performance for dye surface passivated TN spacer.

Abstract We proposed a fabrication of nanoimprinted textures on a front glass/transparent conductive oxide interface for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). These textures were fabricated through polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanoimprint lithography on organosilsesquioxane solution. The texture structures were estimated via optical simulation. Master molds were anodic aluminum oxide templates with nano-texture (N-Tx) and micro-nano double texture (D-Tx). Meanwhile, replicate molds used a hard PDMS. Fluorine-doped tin oxide and titanium dioxide were deposited on textured glass substrates to generate electrodes for DSSCs. Unlike the DSSCs without texture, textured DSSCs realized 11.4% (N-Tx) and 10% (D-Tx) improvement in conversion efficiency.

Owing to the large number of catalytically active sites and sufficient connections between CoS2 and a CNA, a CNA–CoS2 CE exhibited a higher electrocatalytic activity, and faster ion diffusion and electron transfer than a CNA CE.

A novel coil based cylindrical architecture for TCO-less DSSC is reported. The steps of fabrication involved are relatively fast and easy for the mass production of DSSC. Advantages over the previous cylindrical architectures in many aspects are described. The effect of different metal wire characteristics on the solar cell performance is discussed in detail.
