: An efficient and facial one-pot synthesis of 4-aryl-3,4-dihydrobenzo[g]quinoline- 2,5,10(1H)-triones was developed for the first time. The process proceeded via the three-component cyclocondensation of 2-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone with Meldrum’s acid and substituted benzaldehydes under green conditions. The fused 3,4-dihydropyridin-2(1H)- one-ring naphthoquinones have been synthesized with good to high yields in refluxing ethanol as a green reaction medium. This protocol is simple and effective as well as does not involve the assistance of the catalyst, additive, or hazardous solvents.

A high-yielding cyclocondensation of 4-hydroxycoumarin, phenylglyoxal monohydrate, and heteroarylamines proceeds without catalysis, which gives novel functionalized furo[3,2-c]coumarins and heteroarylamino alkylation of coumarin products in acetonitrile under reflux, is reported for the first time. This tandem process involves sequentially an aldol condensation, Michael addition, a ring closure, and dehydration reaction.

To the best of our knowledge, this report presents, for the first time, the schematic of the possible chemical reaction for a one-pot synthesis of Zn0.5Cd0.5Se alloy quantum dots (QDs) in the presence of low/high oleylamine (OLA) contents. For high OLA contents, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) results showed that the average size of Zn0.5Cd0.5Se increases significantly from 4 to 9 nm with an increasing OLA content from 4 to 10 mL. First, [Zn(OAc)2]–OLA complex can be formed by a reaction between Zn(OAc)2 and OLA. Then, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) data confirmed that ZnO is formed by thermal decomposition of the [Zn(OAc)2]–OLA complex. The results indicated that ZnO grew on the Zn0.5Cd0.5Se surface, thus increasing the particle size. For low OLA contents, HRTEM images were used to estimate the average sizes of the Zn0.5Cd0.5Se alloy QDs, which were approximately 8, 6, and 4 nm with OLA loadings of 0, 2, and 4 mL, respectively. We found that Zn(OAc)2 and OLA could form a [Zn(OAc)2]–OLA complex, which inhibited the growth of the Zn0.5Cd0.5Se alloy QDs, due to the decreasing reaction between Zn(oleic acid)2 and Se2−, which led to a decrease in particle size.

Based on the percolation threshold theory of conductive-dielectric composites, the dielectric constant can be improved more by adding a certain mass fraction of conductive particle into polymer matrix. However, the dielectric loss increases with the increasing mass fraction of conductive particle. In this paper, conductive Polyaniline (PANI) with different particle sizes is utilized to illustrate that reducing particle size can improve the dielectric properties. The dielectric constant is increased from 319 to 540, and dielectric loss is decreased from 2.34 to 0.85 when PANI with smaller particle size is used. Moreover, PANI coated with an insulating surfactant layer can further improve the dielectric properties, the experimental results show that the dielectric constant of the composite could be more than 1000, while the dielectric loss is 0.35 at 1[Formula: see text]KHz.

Some hitherto unreported thiazolo[3,4- a]quinoxaline derivatives have been synthesised in excellent yields via a one-pot, three-component reaction of benzene-1,2-diamines, ethyl bromopyruvate and aryl isothiocyanates in MeCN, for the first time. The protocol avoids the use of any catalysts or chromatographic separations and provides a wide range of novel thiazolo[3,4- a]quinoxalines.

A bulk size (∼60 mm length and 20 mm diameter) single crystal of L-cysteine hydrochloride monohydrate has been successfully grown for the first time by the unidirectional Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy method and found to be a nonlinear optical material by observing the second harmonic generation (SHG). The crystal structure has been confirmed by single-crystal as well as powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The Fourier transform–Raman technique was used to study the vibrational modes and functional groups. The grown crystal was found to be highly transparent. The crystalline perfection has been evaluated by high-resolution X-ray diffractometry and the grown crystal was found to be free from macroscopic defects such as structural grain boundaries. The relative SHG efficiency and laser damage threshold values were found to be 1.2 and 5.5 times that of a potassium dihydrogen phosphate crystal, respectively. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and alternating current conductivity were measured by an impedance analyser over a wide range of frequency between 100 Hz and 5 MHz. The dielectric constant was found to be stable for the entire range of frequency with very small dielectric loss, making this material suitable for device applications. The present investigation reveals that the title compound, since it can be grown with desirable size along a predetermined direction and it is a good nonlinear optical material with the prerequisite optical and dielectric properties, is a good candidate for photonic or opto-electronic applications.

The rate-accelerating effects of fluoroalcohol solvents for generating trivalent hypervalent iodine species and the conversion into diaryliodonium(iii) salts have been used for the first time to realize a facile and clean one-pot synthesis of diaryliodonium(iii) salts 3 from aryl iodides 1 and suitable arene partners 2 with peracetic acid (PAA). The use of PAA as a green and practical oxidant is significantly effective in fluoroalcohol solvents. The scope and limitations of the methodology are elucidated by investigation of a wide variety of representative substrates.

One-pot synthesis of polyaniline/Fe3O4 nanocomposite in 1-methyl-3-alkylcarboxylic acid imidazolium chloride ([CMMIm]Cl) ionic liquid (IL) was introduced for the first time in this work. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), four probes method and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) were used to explore the influence of IL on the structure, conductivity and magnetic properties of polyaniline/Fe3O4 composite. Compared with Fe3O4 particles prepared in water, the results show that Fe3O4 particles prepare in imidazolium-based ionic liquid were more regular in shape and dispersed uniformly. So the Fe3O4 nanoparticles prepared in IL can easier serve as cores to form the polyaniline/Fe3O4 nanocomposite via in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline molecule. The saturation magnetization of polyaniline/Fe3O4 nanocomposite prepared in ionic liquid shows about 2 times higher than polyaniline/Fe3O4 composite prepared in water. And the conductivities of PANI/Fe3O4 composite prepared in IL decreased and the saturated magnetization increased with the increasing amount of Fe3O4.
