Rare phenoxo- and cyano-bridged CuLnFe trinuclear complexes were prepared. The 1D Cu2DyFe complex displays both single-chain magnetic properties and the intrachain Cu(ii)–Fe(iii) antiferromagnetic coupling.

Two cyanide-bridged enantiopure one-dimensional single chain complexes have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Systematically magnetic investigations show the antiferromagnetic coupling between the Mn(iii)–Fe(iii) centers and the metamagnetic behavior at about 5.0 K.

The structure of Mn(dca)2(H2O)22Me4pyz (dca = dicyanamide, N(CN)2-; Me4pyz = tetramethylpyrazine) contains one-dimensional polymeric chains of Mn(dca)2(H2O)2. The Me4pyz molecules hydrogen-bond to the water ligands, and form Me4pyzH2OMe4pyzH2O chains which flank either side of the coordination polymer chains. Magnetic susceptibility studies show that very weak intra-chain antiferromagnetic-coupling occurs.

Two carboxylate-bridged one-dimensional chain complexes, {[MnII(MeOH)2][FeIII(L)2]2}n (1) and {[MnII(DMF)2][MnIII(L)2]2·DMF}n (2) [H2L = ((2-carboxyphenyl)azo)-benzaldoxime], containing a low-spin [FeIII(L)2]− or [MnIII(L)2]− unit were synthesized. Magnetic measurements show that the adjacent high-spin MnII and low-spin MIII ions display weak antiferromagnetic coupling via the syn–anti carboxyl bridges, with J = −0.066(2) cm−1 for complex 1 and J = −0.274(2) cm−1 for complex 2.

Adiabatic large polarons in anisotropic molecular crystals We study the large polaron whose motion is confined to a single chain in a system composed of the collection of parallel molecular chains embedded in threedimensional lattice. It is found that the interchain coupling has a significant impact on the large polaron characteristics. In particular, its radius is quite larger while its effective mass is considerably lighter than that estimated within the one-dimensional models. We believe that our findings should be taken into account for the proper understanding of the possible role of large polarons in the charge and energy transfer in quasi-one-dimensional substances.

This study probes the structure and the magnetic properties of members of the Ln(HCO2)(C2O4) (Ln = Sm3+-Er3+) family of coordination frameworks. These frameworks adopt a Pnma orthorhombic structure with one-dimensional...
