The photoluminescence mechanism of ultra-small gold clusters was proposed to reveal the origin of excited states formed by aurophilic interactions and their radiative decays.

The sensitization of scintillation was investigated in crosslinked polymeric composite materials loaded with luminescent gold clusters aggregates acting as sensitizers, and with organic dye rhodamine 6G as the emitting species. The evolution in time of the excited states population in the systems is described by a set of coupled rate equations, in which steady state solution allowed obtainment of an expression of the sensitization efficacy as a function of the characteristic parameters of the employed luminescent systems. The results obtained indicate that the realization of sensitizer/emitter scintillating complexes is the strategy that must be pursued to maximize the sensitization effect in composite materials.

Owing to aurophilic interactions, linear and/or planar Au(I)-thiolate molecules spontaneously aggregate, leading to molecular gold clusters passivated by a thiolate monolayer coating. Differently from the thiolate precursors, such cluster compounds show very intensive visible fluorescence characteristics that can be tuned by alloying the gold clusters with silver atoms or by conjugating the electronic structure of the metallic core with unsaturated electronic structures in the organic ligand through the sulphur atom. Here, the photoluminescence features of some examples of these systems are shortly described.

The spectrum of excited states of single and double strange hyperons is only poorly known. Their internal structure is controversially discussed within quark, bag and molecular models. The most famous example is Λ(1405). In this context radiative decays are predicted to be an ideal tool to discriminate between various predictions. Moreover, Ξ− production yield measured by HADES in [email protected] GeV and [email protected] GeV experiments strongly overshoots theory predictions and calls for more detailed studies in elementary collisions. In our poster we show results of the feasibility studies for the HADES detector of the cascade production close to the threshold and also the radiative decays of the excited hyperon states. Three bench mark channels: $pp \to \Lambda (15020){K^ + }p \to \Lambda {e^ + }{e^ - }{K^ + }p$, $pp \to \Lambda (1405){K^ + }p \to \Lambda {e^ + }{e^ - }{K^ + }p$ and $pp \to \Sigma (1385){K^ + }p \to \Lambda {e^ + }{e^ - }{K^ + }p$, at beam energy Ek = 4.5 GeV have been put into extensive simulation studies together with the most significant background channels. We will show the results including expected count rates and signal to background ratios.

The first radial excitations of axial-vector mesons are considered in the framework of the extended U(3) × U(3) Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model. We calculate the mass spectrum of a1, f1 and also strange axial-vector mesons. For description of radially excited states, we used the form factors of polynomial type of the second order in transverse quark momentum. For the ground- and excited-state mesons consisting of light quarks we have calculated the widths of a number of strong and radiative decays. We got satisfactory agreement with experimental data for the ground states. A set of predictions for the excited states of mesons is given.
