Employing C3N QD-integrated single-crystal graphene, photodetectors exhibited a distinct photocurrent response at 1550 nm. The photocurrent map revealed that the fast response derive from C3N QDs that enhanced the local electric field near graphene.

Bi-substituted iron garnet (Bi:IG) compounds synthesized in thin film form are the best semi-transparent magneto-optical (MO) materials for applications in magnetic recording, optical sensors, and photonics. These materials can possess attractive magnetic properties and the highest specific Faraday rotation in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions, if the deposited layers contain a high volumetric fraction of the garnet phase and possess high-quality surfaces and microstructure. In this paper, we study the effects of various deposition and annealing process parameters on the properties of Bi:IG and garnet-oxide nanocomposite films of several composition types fabricated using radio-frequency (RF) sputtering deposition followed by high-temperature isothermal crystallization. We also investigate the kinetics of garnet phase formation within a garnet-Bi-oxide nanocomposite material.

The ingestion of suspended particles by high performance turbomachinery reduces engine efficiency and life. New developments in blade coating materials have contributed to compressor and turbine design improvements. A knowledge of the important phenomna associated with material erosion by particulate flow is required in the design. This paper gives an overview of the experimental studies of the erosion characteristics of coated superalloy blades conducted at the University of Cincinnati’s test facilities for blade and coating materials erosion will be described. Results will be presented and discussed for the erosion characteristics of various blade materials and coatings. The investigated coatings are produced via plasma spray, detonation guns, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and physical vapor deposition (PVD).
