A media for inkless and erasable printing has been developed using photochromic MOFs. Different coloured printing has been achieved by varying the structure of the MOF. The resultant printing has a good resolution and stability, is capable of being read both by human eyes and smart electronic devices and the paper can be reused for several cycles without any significant loss in intensity.

A family of heterometallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) (CPM200s) harmoniously coexisting as Lewis acids and base (azo) sites were prepared. Seven CPM200s were employed as multifunctional heterogeneous cascade catalysts for the one-pot deacetalization-Knoevenagel reaction in a solvent-free system. Benefiting from the cooperation between Lewis acids from the open metal sites and base sites from the ligands, the CPM200s showed high activity and selectivity for the tandem reaction. The heterometallic 3D porous framework reported here not only offers a combination of two opposite active sites in the same framework of materials but also increases mass transfer of the substrate, thus maximizing the efficiency and substrate selectivity of the bifunctional catalysts. The CPM200s showed the highest turnover frequency (TOF), outperforming that of the reported MOFs in tandem with the deacetalization-Knoevenagel reaction. A strong correlation between the TOF and charge-to-radius ratio (z/r) of metal ions in the CPM200s was observed for the first time. The bifunctional CPM200s catalysts can be reused five times without significant loss of activity.

Electromagnetic (EM) pollution has raised significant concerns to human health with the rapid development of electronic devices and wireless information technologies, and created adverse effects on the normal operation of the sensitive electronic apparatus. Notably, the EM absorbers with either dielectric loss or magnetic loss can hardly perform efficient absorption, which thereby limits their applications in the coming 5G era. In such a context, the hotspot materials reported recently, such as graphene, MXenes, and metal-organic frameworks (MOF)-derived materials, etc., have been explored and applied as EM absorbing and shielding materials owing to their tunable heterostructures, as well as the facile incorporation of both dielectric and magnetic components. In this review, we deliver a comprehensive literature survey according to the types of EM absorbing and shielding materials, and interpret the connectivity and regularity among them on the basis of absorbing mechanisms and microstructures. Finally, the challenges and the future prospects of the EM dissipating materials are also discussed accordingly.

Abstract A few recent findings on ultrathin two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were discussed in this spotlight review. MOFs are a class of materials with intriguing properties for possible applications in several fields ranging from catalysis to sensors and functional devices. To date, several synthesis strategies have been explored to derive crystalline 2D MOF structures. However, most synthetic strategies to obtain such materials remain underexplored. This highlighted review evaluated select synthesis strategies focused on deriving micron-sized 2D MOF crystals, emphasizing their rich chemistries. More importantly, the possibility of integrating the synthesized ultrathin 2D crystalline MOFs into the functional device and their electrical conductivity measurements are reviewed. Overall, this review provides the most recent outcomes in the ultrathin 2D MOF community and its influence on electronic devices.
