The porous coin-like iron exhibits excellent microwave absorption properties with the optimal reflection loss value of −53.2 dB at a thickness of 1.4 mm. This special structure is attributed to electromagnetic scattering behavior which is benefit for microwave absorption.

The three-dimensional (3D) conductive network structures formed by barium titanate/carbon nanotubes incorporated polyaniline were favorable for strengthening electromagnetic absorption capability. Herein, an easy and flexible method consisting of sol-gel technique, in situ polymerization, and subsequent mechanical method have been developed to prepare the barium titanate/carbon nanotubes incorporated polyaniline (CNTs/BaTiO3/PANI or CBP) ternary composites. The dielectric properties and microwave absorption properties of CNTs/BaTiO3/PANI composites were investigated in the frequency range of 2–18 GHz by vector network analyzer. Interestingly, it is found that the CNTs/BaTiO3/PANI composites with 3D conductive network structures presented outstanding electromagnetic absorption properties, which may be attributed to the high impedance matching behavior and improved dielectric loss ability and novel synergistic effect. Additionally, it also can be supposed that the “geometrical effect” of composite was more beneficial to absorbing the incident electromagnetic wave. The CNTs/BaTiO3/PANI composite (the mass ratio of CNTs/BaTiO3to PANI is 2 : 3) exhibits the best microwave absorption properties, of which the minimum reflection loss value can reach −30.9 dB at 8 GHz and the absorption bandwidth with a reflection loss blew −10 dB ranges from 7.5 to 10.2 GHz.

Hollow magnetic structures have great potential to be used in the microwave absorbing field. Herein, Fe3O4 hollow spheres with different levels of hollowness were synthesized by the hydrothermal method under Ostwald ripening effect. In addition to their microstructures, the microwave absorption properties of such spheres were investigated. The results show that the grain size and hollowness of Fe3O4 hollow spheres both increase as the reaction time increases. With increasing hollowness, the attenuation ability of electromagnetic wave of Fe3O4 spheres increases first and then decreases, finally increases sharply after the spheres break down. Samples with strong attenuation ability can achieve good impedance matching, which it does preferentially as the absorber thickness increases. Fe3O4 hollow spheres show the best microwave absorption performance when the reaction time is 24 h. The minimum reflection loss (RL (min)) can reach −40 dB, while the thickness is only 3.2 mm.

AbstractIn this work, we demonstrated a simple method for preparing three-dimensional interconnected carbon nanofibers (ICNF) derived from fish bone as an efficient and lightweight microwave absorber. The as-obtained ICNF exhibits excellent microwave absorption performance with a maximum reflection loss of –59.2 dB at the filler content of 15 wt%. In addition, the effective absorption bandwidth can reach 4.96 GHz at the thickness of 2 mm. The outstanding microwave absorption properties can be mainly ascribed to its well-defined interconnected nanofibers architecture and the doping of nitrogen atoms, which are also better than most of the reported carbon-based absorbents. This work paves an attractive way for the design and fabrication of highly efficient and lightweight electromagnetic wave absorbers.

La 0.67 Sr 0.33 MnO 3 particles with different particle size have been prepared by sol-gel method. The structure, magnetization and microwave absorption properties have been investigated. The results show that the particle size can be controlled by sinter temperature. The peaks of the maximum reflection loss (RL) move to higher frequency regions with increasing particle size. The value of the maximum RL is -32 dB at 10.2GHz with a particle size of 58.5nm. The bandwidth with a RL exceeding -8dB reached 1.6GHz in the whole measured frequency range, suggesting that La 0.67 Sr 0.33 MnO 3 particles are promising for application as a wideband and strong absorption building microwave absorber.
