A novel microporous lanthanum metal–organic framework 1 was synthesized by using the rigid unsymmetrical tricarboxylate ligand H3TPT. This compound exhibits selective detection of picric acid (PA) and Fe3+ ion.

A heterometallic MOF with strong blue fluorescence and interrupted cap topology was synthesized, which not only showed naked-eye selective detection ability towards the nitro explosive trinitrobenzene but also displayed the high sensing selectivity towards picric acid.
