In this study, tungsten trioxide (WO3) thin films were electrodeposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass to form WO3-coated glass. The electrodeposition (ED) time (tED) and ED current (IED) were varied to control the film thickness and morphology. Furthermore, the crystallization of the thin films was controlled by annealing them at 250°C, 500°C, and 700°C. The results showed that the thickness of the WO3thin films increased withtEDandIED. The as-deposited thin films and those annealed at 250°C were amorphous, whereas the WO3thin films annealed at 500 and 700°C were in the anorthic phase. Moreover, the amorphous WO3-coated glass exhibited high transmittance in visible light and low transmittance in near-infrared light, whereas the anorthic WO3-coated glass had high transmittance in near-infrared light. An empirical formula for determining the thickness of WO3thin films was derived through multiple regressions of the ED process parameters.

ABSTRACTBi4Ti3O12 thin films have been grown on indium tin oxide coated glass by pulsed laser deposition. The films are rapidly thermal annealed at 650 °C in various kinds of ambients. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy are used to investigate crystallization and microstructures, respectively. Using Auger electron microscopy, chemical compositions and depth profiles are examined. Optical and current-voltage characteristics measurements of the films show that their transmittance and leakage current behaviors are strongly dependent upon the microstructures. O2 partial pressure in the rapid thermal annealing process is found to be an important parameter which determines crystallization, microstructures, and leakage current behaviors of the Bi4Ti3O12 thin films.

The tungsten oxide (WO3) thin films on the indium tin oxide (ITO) glass in this study were produced by applying the electrodeposition method (ED). This method involves adjusting ED time to control the structure, film thickness, and morphology of WO3thin films. Furthermore, the crystallization of the WO3thin films was controlled by annealing them at 200 °C and 500 °C. The results show that the WO3coated glass with non-annealed and annealed at 200 °C has a high transmittance of visible light and anti-infrared characteristics. However, the WO3coated glass annealed at 500 °C has high infrared transmittance, with the highest infrared transmittance reaching 85% at the 1000 nm wavelength. To improve the heat collecting efficiency of solar water heaters, the high infrared WO3coated glass can be applied to the surface of the heat collecting component.

A simple one-step method was developed to electrodeposit gold thin film from HAuCl4solution with cyclic voltammetric mode on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass. The color of as-prepared gold film can vary from red to blue due to different particle-particle interaction. The Au thin film comprised of isolated gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were red color, while blue gold thin films were obtained by electrodeposition in high HAuCl4concentration and the increasing deposition cycles.
