A series of novel lanthanide (Eu, Tb, Sm, Dy) doped yttrium 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate have been obtainedviasolvothermal method. With varied concentration of co-doped europium and terbium in yttrium 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate, the emitting colors of obtained materials changed under the same excitation wavelength.

All solid solutions (EuxY1−x-PTC, x = 0.013–0.82) are isomorphic to Eu-PTC, but different from Y-PTC, and show phase selectivity as well as excitation wavelength dependent emission.

A new class of lanthanide luminescent MOFs was constructed by encapsulating Ln3+ into the pores of MIL-121 (Ln3+@MIL-121). Ag+ was found to be able to greatly enhance the weak visible or NIR luminescence of Ln3+@MIL-121 since it can induce more efficient intramolecular energy transfer from the ligand to Ln3+ in Ag–Ln co-doped MOFs.

Lanthanide functionalized hybrids of polyoxometallate based MOF Ln3+⊂COK-15 are prepared and display multi-color light, together with a white luminescence (x = 0.3845, y = 0.303) by tuning an appropriate amount of Eu3+ and a suitable excitation wavelength.
