Solvothermal reaction of a tetracarboxylic acid with Ba(NO3)2 afforded a barium–organic framework whose single crystal X-ray structure was characterized to have I2O1 connectivity and 1 D channels 15.1 Å in diameter. This MOF has high thermal stability up to 540 °C, and its luminescence intensity can be modulated by ion exchange.

New luminescent zinc complexes were obtained by reaction of pyrazolone-based azomethine ligands with Zn(CH3COO)2·2H2O. Complexes fully characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, ES–MS, NMR, and single crystal X-ray analysis. Title complexes in the solid state demonstrate tunable luminescence from blue to orange by varying of substituents on the aromatic ring. Quantum yields are in the 0.03 to 0.49 range. TGA data shows that obtained complexes demonstrate high thermal stability and can be used as electroluminescent materials. The electrical properties of the complexes under study were considered in the ITO-Zncomplex-Al “sandwich” structure.

A novel metal-organic framework, MnCl2(BIPS)2•2CH3OH•2H2O (1) were synthesized from MnCl2 and a tetrahedral silicon-cored ligand, Me2Si(p-C6H4-imdazol-1-yl)2 (BIPS) under the slow diffusion method. The structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 is a 2D sheet structure constructed from 1D chains with 34-atom metallamacrocycles.

[Cu(L)(AIP)·1.5H2O]n (1) [L= 3,5-di(benzimidazol-1-yl)pyridine, H2AIP= 5-aminoisophthalic acid] was prepared by the solvothermal reaction, which was characterized by single-crystal X–ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. 1 exhibits an infinite two dimensional [Cu(AIP)]n sheet parallel to (0 1 1) crystal plane. Furthermore, complex 1 displays good photocatalytic degradation of methyl blue (MB).
