ABSTRACTElectrodes made of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) chemically modified by a series of anthraquinone derivatives (AQ) have been prepared and characterized by cyclic voltammetry in 0.1M H2SO4, using the standard 3 electrode set-up and by Raman spectroscopy. It has been demonstrated that a AQ modified SWCNT electrode provided between 114 to 220% higher specific capacitance, compared to pristine SWCNT electrode, depending on the length of the spacer between SWCNT and AQ.

In this study, liquid crystalline copper phthalocyanine and single walled carbon nanotubes were dispersed in solution to prepare novel composites. Thin films of these composites prepared by solving of the composite in dimetylformamide and then by spin coating the solution onto the substrates were studied by the methods of polarizing microscopy, polarized Raman and optical absorption spectroscopies. It was shown that pure CuPcR4forms the films with a herringbone arrangement of phthalocyanine molecules within adjacent columns. An addition of carbon nanotubes (0.5-2 wt %) to CuPcR4leads to formation of the films with edge-on orientation of the molecules. The higher conductivity values were found for the films of phthalocyanine containing SWCNT. The lateral conductivity tends to decrease with the increase of SWCNT concentration from 0.5 to 2 wt %.

We developed a complex three-dimensional (3D) multilayer deposition method for the fabrication of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) using vacuum filtration and plasmonic carbonization without lithography and etching processes. Using this fabrication method, SWCNTs can be stacked to form complex 3D structures that have a large surface area relative to the unit volume compared to the single-plane structure of conventional SWCNTs. We characterized 3D multilayer SWCNT patterns using a surface optical profiler, Raman spectroscopy, sheet resistance, scanning electron microscopy, and contact angle measurements. Additionally, these carbon nanotube (CNT) patterns showed excellent mechanical stability even after elastic bending tests more than 1000 times at a radius of 2 mm.
