SummaryThe rapid synthesis of 203Hg-chlormerodrin by an isotopic exchange reaction in organic solvents was investigated using a mixture of inactive chlormerodrin and 203Hg-mercuric chloride. This reaction is promising as a practical method since 203Hg-CM can be so prepared in a short time. In methanol, 3-acetoxy-mercuri-2 methoxypropylurea exchanged at room temperature with 203Hg-mercuric acetate to a relatively high yield. The most suitable solvent for paper chromatography of CM was found to be a mixture of dimethylformamide, water and methanol (5 : 1 : 14 v/v). The fate and distribution of 203Hg-CM in rats were studied after a single oral dose and the maximum of activity was observed in the kidneys during the first 6 hours. A preferential binding of Hg by renal tissue was found. The biological half-life in the whole body was about 18.5 days. This compound was excreted mainly via the faeces but small amounts were excreted in the urine.

A simple and rapid technique to synthesize LiFePO4 by microwave-solvothermal method assisted a short time post-treatment was described. The crystal structure and the charge-discharge performance of the prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and galvanostatic charge-discharge testing. The results indicated that this rapid synthesis technique by microwave-solvothermal method combined short time post-treatment was an effective way to obtain LiFePO4 with a single olivine-type crystal structure and small particle size. The electrochemical research indicated that the resulting LiFePO4/C composite could deliver 141.7mAh•g-1 at 0.1C at 25 °C and showed good stability retaining 97% after 45 cycles.

One of the means of Gemonstrating the resolving power of the electron microscope is to use the lattice image of vacuum evaporated thin single crystals. Although the technique for obtaining such single crystal films has been reported, there are many difficulties in practice, including the requirement for special vacuum evaporation equipment and highly sophisticated procedures.This paper describes the method of obtaining single crystal films in a relatively short time. A simplified vacuum depositing unit will be described in detail as well as optimum temperatures and conditions for the substrate, annealing and controlling of the film thickness. A few examples will also be presented.
