This paper reports the results of experimental investigation of flow resistance in a coal mine ventilation air methane preheated catalytic oxidation reactor. The experimental system was installed at the Energy Research Institute of Shandong University of Technology. The system has been used to investigate the effects of flow rate (200 Nm3/h to 1000 Nm3/h) and catalytic oxidation bed average temperature (20°C to 560°C) within the preheated catalytic oxidation reactor. The pressure drop and resistance proportion of catalytic oxidation bed, the heat exchanger preheating section, and the heat exchanger flue gas section were measured. In addition, based on a large number of experimental data, the empirical equations of flow resistance are obtained by the least square method. It can also be used in deriving much needed data for preheated catalytic oxidation designs when employed in industry.

In this work, a series of natural mordenite-supported platinum (Pt) catalysts were prepared by a facile two-step method, namely, treatment of natural mordenite and then the loading of Pt nanoparticles. The acid-alkali-treated natural mordenite-supported Pt samples (1% Pt/MORn-H-OH) exhibited the highly enhanced catalytic oxidation activity of formaldehyde (HCHO) at room temperature. XRD results showed that the crystalline phase of the mordenite did not change significantly in 1% Pt/MORn-H-OH catalyst. However, the acid-alkali treatment endowed the Pt particles excellent dispersion with the smallest diameter of 2.8 nm in a high loading content, which contributed to the optimal catalytic activity of 1% Pt/MORn-H-OH.

This study presents an experimental investigation conducted on a refrigerator powered by direct current and composed of a 166L cabinet, a condenser embedded in the external wall of the compartment (hot-wall), an internal static evaporator, a hermetic variable speed compressor. The refrigerant fluid used is the R290a, a natural fluid. By placing the refrigerator in a temperature-controlled environment, four external temperatures have experimented: 22, 25, 29 and 32 °C. Three different temperature setpoints have been set for each temperature: -5, -10, -20 °C. In this way, 12 test conditions were defined, and each of them was repeated by imposing four different compressor rotation speeds: 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500 rpm. The set of tests allowed to identify for each operating condition the optimal number of operating revolutions aimed at minimising the energy consumption of the analysed device.
