The article examines the process of crystallization of Wood alloy using the ultrasonic method. The dependence of the determination of the speed of sound in three aggregate states of the alloy (liquid, solid, transition (liquid-solid)) was derived. The relation-ship with the amplitude values of the sound signal, a single pulse in determining the speed of sound, as well as in determining the state of the alloy is carried out. The data obtained allow us to analyze the state of the alloy and the measurement time and the specified frequency range directly in the process of crystallization.

ABSTRACT We report here on initial results from the Thousand-Pulsar-Array (TPA) programme, part of the Large Survey Project ‘MeerTime’ on the MeerKAT telescope. The interferometer is used in the tied-array mode in the band from 856 to 1712 MHz, and the wide band coupled with the large collecting area and low receiver temperature make it an excellent telescope for the study of radio pulsars. The TPA is a 5 year project, which aims at to observing (a) more than 1000 pulsars to obtain high-fidelity pulse profiles, (b) some 500 of these pulsars over multiple epochs, and (c) long sequences of single-pulse trains from several hundred pulsars. The scientific outcomes from the programme will include the determination of pulsar geometries, the location of the radio emission within the pulsar magnetosphere, the connection between the magnetosphere and the crust and core of the star, tighter constraints on the nature of the radio emission itself, as well as interstellar medium studies. First, results presented here include updated dispersion measures, 26 pulsars with Faraday rotation measures derived for the first time, and a description of interesting emission phenomena observed thus far.

AbstractA method is presented for the X-ray spectrometric determination of copper, tin, and uranium in a bronze heat-treating material. The method is based on the irradiation of an acid solution of the sample, to which indium and zinc have been added as internal standards. Quantitative determinations of copper and tin (each in the 40 to 60% range) are calculated from the ratios of the CuKα/ZnKα and SnKα/In Kα intensities. Uranium concentration (in the 1 to 10% range) is calculated from the ratio of the ULα/ In Kα intensities, A correction for the interference of the second-order In Kβ1,3 doublet with the first-order ULα peak is described. The over-all limits of error for single determinations at the 95% confidence level are ±0,58% copper, ±0,56% tin, and ±0,31% uranium.
