The role of the synthesis parameters (the molar ratio of template, isopropyl alcohol, acetylacetone, and water with respect to titanium(IV) tetraisopropoxide) has been thoroughly investigated to understand their effects on the mesostructures and the formation of crystalline phases of mesoporous titania xerogels in less water condition (no added water) at 60 oC. The resultant mesoporous titania are more likely to have worm-hole like structure as the dominant stable structure. The template appears to play no significant role in structure directing at mesophase level. However, increasing the amount of the template delays the formation of anatase crystalline phase   Keywords: mesoporous titania, templating synthesis, anatase, evaporation-induced self-assembly

An antiserum which binds kinesin specifically on Western blots was used to determine the distribution and abundance of chicken kinesin by correlated immunoblotting and immunolocalization. Quantitative immunoblotting showed that the abundance of kinesin varied widely in different cell and tissue types, from 0.039% of total protein in epidermal fibroblasts to 0.309% in sympathetic neurons; of the types examined, only red blood cells lacked detectable kinesin. The molar ratio of tubulin/kinesin varied over a narrower range. To analyze the intracellular distribution of kinesin, cultured fibroblasts were fractionated by sequential extraction with saponin-, Triton X-100-, and SDS-containing buffer. Quantitative blotting of the resulting cell fractions indicated that 68% of fibroblast kinesin is in soluble form, 32% is membrane- or organelle-associated, and none is detectable in cytoskeletal fractions. To visualize this distribution, cells treated by the same extraction protocol were immunofluorescently stained with antikinesin and antitubulin. Without extraction, kinesin staining was located throughout cultured neurons and fibroblasts. However, when fibroblasts were extracted with saponin or Brij 58 before fixation, subsequent staining revealed that the remaining kinesin fraction was colocalized with interphase microtubules, but not with mitotic spindles. Prefixation extraction with Triton abolished antikinesin staining. These data suggest that kinesin may play a role in tubovesicular movement but provide no evidence for a role in mitosis.

Urea-formaldehyde resin was modified by a modifier with different synthetic processes labelled as UFM1, UFM2, and UFM3 respectively. As a comparison, normal UF resin with a F/U molar ratio of 1.1 labelled as UF0 was synthesized. The thermal behavior of modified urea-formaldehyde resins was studied by TG-DTA techniques, and the properties of plywood bonded with the UFM resins were investigated. The conclusions were as follows: (1) the modifier used in this study could significantly reduce the free formaldehyde content of urea-formaldehyde resin and the formaldehyde emission of plywood; (2) The exothermic peak temperatures of DTA curve were 129.37, 125.05, 120.98, and 116.11 °C for UF0, UFM1, UFM2, and UFM3 respectively. (3) The plywood manufactured with UFM2 and UFM3 resins have high bonding strength (1.28MPa and 1.59MPa) and low formaldehyde emission value (E1 grade).

Based on the investigation of measurement method of ammonium nitrogen (NH4-N) desulfurization and denitrification wastewater (DDW) by distillation method, effects of pH, Cl/N and the initial concentration of NH4-N on the removal of NH4-N in DDW by sodium hypochlorite were studied. Results of parallel test and standard recovery test demonstrated good reliability and accuracy of the distillation method for the measurement of NH4-N in DDW. The NH4-N removal efficiency increased with pH from 5.0 and 8.0, and then decreased with pH higher than 8.0. Therefore, the optimum pH value was 8.0 with NH4-N removal efficiency of 74.7%. NH4-N removal efficiency was increased from 16.9% to 84.1% with Cl/N molar ratio rose from 1 to 5. The initial concentration of NH4-N showed insignificant effect on the removal amount of NH4-N, and the removed NH4-N was about 12~13mg/L with the addition of 4.86mmol/L sodium hypochlorite.

Functionalized SBA-15 with mesoscopic pore channels was synthesized by co-condensation of tetraethoxysilane and (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES) via hydrothermal process. Small-angle X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were used to monitor the effect of surface functionalization on the structural and textural features of the SBA-15. The results suggested that the structural ordering of functionalized SBA-15, as well as pore diameters, pore volumes and surface areas, were decreased with increasing the APTES molar ratio. Candida rugosa lipase (CRL) was used as a model enzyme for studying the effect of amino-functionalized on loading amount and enzymatic activity. The effects of pH and temperature on catalytic hydrolysis of tributyrin by immobilized CRL were investigated. The results showed that immobilized CRL had a well adaptability in a wide pH and temperature region, and CRL immobilized on functionalized SBA-15 exhibited much higher enzymatic activity than free CRL, especially, 5 mol% APTES functionalized SBA-15 immobilized CRL displayed the highest activity.
