Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), γ-Fe2O3, with hydrophilic surfaces are fabricated in ethylene glycol solutions, without surfactant or additive, by solvothermal process from α-Fe2O3 nanoparticle as precursors. With the addition of a trace of hydrazine hydrate, the cubic phase Fe3O4 nanoparticles are obtained instead of γ-Fe2O3. The saturation magnetization value of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles is up to 74.3 emu/g. This study provides a low cost, safe, and universal route to serve as excellent biocompatibility magnetic core for future applications in biomedical, agriculture, and horticulture applications.

A totally novel, extremely easy, much greener and low-cost method has been developed to synthesize TiO2 mesocrystals. These materials are built of TiO2 nanocrystals with similar crystallographic orientation and largely exposed {001} facets. Their unique structure optimizes the relationship between specific surface area, crystallite size and active facets, and therefore leads to superior photocatalytic activity.

A series of new C3-N1 directly linked chromone/1,2,3-triazole molecular hybrids synthesized by adopting low cost effective CuI catalyzed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (Cu-AAC triazole annulation) from chromone-3-aldehyde via key intermediates 3-azidochromone, synthesized from another intermediate 3-hydroxychromone. These synthetic 1,2,3-triazole embedded chromones are the new addition to the click chemistry family. The structures of final products established by IR, NMR and mass spectral analysis.
