Abstract. In the recent years, the task of estimating the currents induced within the human body by environmental electromagnetic fields has received increased attention from scientists around the world. While important progress was made in this direction, the unpredictable behaviour of living biological tissue made it difficult to quantify its reaction to electromagnetic fields and has kept the problem open. A successful alternative to the very difficult one of performing measurements is that of computing the fields within a human body model using numerical methods implemented in a software code. One of the difficulties is represented by the fact that some tissue types exhibit an anisotropic character with respect to their dielectric properties. Our work consists of computing currents induced by extremely low frequency (ELF) electric fields in anisotropic muscle tissues using in this respect, a human body model extended with muscle fibre orientations as well as an extended version of the Finite Integration Technique (FIT) able to compute fully anisotropic dielectric properties.

Within the frequency range 10…106 Hz, the frequency dependences of the real (ε') and imaginary (ε") components of the complex dielectric permittivity of medical thermal indicators based on polyvinyl acetate and mixtures of cholesteric liquid crystals have been studied. In them, the selective reflection of electromagnetic waves visible to the human eye occurs at normal (36.6 °C) and elevated (38.2 °C) human body temperatures. Being based on the comparison of the ε' frequency dependences for the studied in this work dispersions of nematic liquid crystals prepared using the same technology and with the same polymer, it has been shown that, already on the basis of analysis of frequency dependences for ε', it is possible to ascertain the difference in characteristics for two types of thermal indicators. From the comparison of frequency dependences for ε", the main reasons of a difference between dielectric properties of the investigated medical thermal indicators for various temperatures of a human body have been ascertained.

Dielectric properties of rat blood is measured in frequency range of 10kHz-10MHz during its coagulation process, excluding the impaction factor of temperature via measuring at 37±2°C, the results reflect the changes of relative permittivity of rat blood after it leaves the body to half an hour. Experimental results show that dielectric properties of rat blood in the coagulation process show very different characteristics in different frequencies, mechanisms of our measurements are also analyzed theoretically. The findings should provide valuable information of biochemical reaction within blood during the process of coagulation, and also provide insight into assessment of electromagnetic field exposure for human body.

Hydroxyapatite bioceramics has attracted many material scientists as it is the main constituent of the bone and the teeth in human body. The synthesis of the bioceramics has been performed for years. Nowadays, the synthetic work is not only focused on the hydroapatite but also on the fluorapatite and chlorapatite bioceramics since later materials have also biological compatibility with human tissues; and they may also be very promising for clinic purpose. However, in comparison of the synthetic bioceramics with natural one on microstructure, a great differences were observed according to our previous results. We have investigated these differences further in this work since they are very important to appraise the synthetic bioceramics for their clinic application.The synthetic hydroxyapatite and chlorapatite were prepared according to A. Krajewski and A. Ravaglioli and their recent work. The briquettes from different hydroxyapatite or chlorapatite powders were fired in a laboratory furnace at the temperature of 900-1300°C. The samples of human enamel selected for the comparison with synthetic bioceramics were from Chinese adult teeth.
