The present study focuses on the service-related needs and experiences of formerly homeless emerging adults living in supportive housing programs following a Housing First model. Recent research on services utilized by homeless individuals has indicated that, in supportive housing programs that serve a wide age range, emerging adults may consider themselves different from older adults, with distinct problems and characteristics. The present study applied conventional content analysis to qualitative interviews to investigate how emerging adults in two Housing First supportive housing programs describe and understand their experiences within these programs. Findings are centered on three main domains: social connections, future outlooks, and program experiences. Results highlight the importance of taking developmental considerations into account when formulating services for emerging adults.
