This study was conducted to explore the direction of the development of leader education and training that has a profound effect on the level of combat power in the army. To this end, a survey of 1,110 active and non-commissioned officers and interviews with 15 lieutenants who had experiences in leader education and training were conducted to identify and analyze their perceptions of the current leader education and training program. The study analyzed the leader development of the US Army, which was the model on which the leader education and training program of the ROK Army was based. The present study proposed the development directions of the army leader education and training; ‘reviewing the term ‘leader’’, ‘reviewing the criteria and guidelines for classification of education and training’, ‘preparing standardized educational materials and sharing system’, and ‘developing principles for leader education and training’. The Army recognized the importance of the role of leaders in education and training, and made great efforts to improve the level of leaders. However, the perception of leaders who are actually subject to leader education and training, and research on the US Army have not been conducted. This study is of great significance as it is the first to fundamentally look back on leader education and training of the ROK Army and present the direction of its development.

The President illustrates the challenges facing engineers at a number of interfaces between established disciplines, experiences and structures. An account of influences on his own early education and training are followed by descriptions of his fascination with the characteristics of thin films of lubricant at the interfaces between moving parts of machine components and body masses in the human frame. Developments in engineering education, particularly in relation to the promotion of interdisciplinary subjects and the opportunities for students to interface with overseas institutions in an international form of engineering education are outlined. The important interfaces between industry, the universities and the professional institutions in relation to education, training and research are identified as essential foundations for the promotion of a research and knowledge led competitive industrial base for the twenty-first century.

Abstract Some general guidelines can help in the assessment of clinical chemistry training and training programs. A clinical chemist must be, first of all, a good chemist, but to this must be added other knowledge and skills. A program that begins with a bachelor's degree in chemistry equivalent to the American Chemical Society's standards is proposed for the clinical chemistry technologist. The model provides more flexibility as the education proceeds toward the doctoral and postdoctoral levels and as the opportunities and responsibilities become increasingly more diverse. An essential portion of the training at all levels is experience in a clinical laboratory. It is strongly recommended that this be started early and be continued throughout the program. Certification by an independent agency (National Registry in Clinical Chemistry or American Board of Clinical Chemistry) is strongly recommended as a final step in all plans.
