The purpose of the present paper is to study the comprehensive analysis Tharoor did in his book of all walks of Indian life, post-1947. It is a critical evaluation of the country's rst fty years of Independence. Very skilfully, Tharoor examined some of the greatest challenges India has faced over the past ve decades as well as what lies ahead for the nation. In the chapters devoted to such diverse topics as caste, Indian democracy, the troubled legacy of Indira Gandhi, partition of India and Pakistan, sectarian violence, corruption, the author tries to dene what makes India one country. He writes of these problems with a sense of optimism about the future. With a lucid and lively style he discusses India's transition from a socialist economy to a free market and expresses satisfaction at the Indian leadership's realization that economic interdependence is not incompatible with political independence. Keeping in mind the limitation of time and space, the researcher would prefer to give overview of all chapters rather than a detailed discussion.

The article describes a new idea based on the theoretical and methodological trends of the critical evaluation of ecosystem services, focused on the analysis of different global studies with the application of different methodologies, using 5 search equations and some questions were asked to answer them, which allowed the design of the background search. Its process and information analysis were made with the R and VOS viewer software. Finally, we illustrate as results 194 documents were analyzed from 2010 to 2020, showing that the most important thematic areas come from the environmental sciences and that integral valuation marks an important trend in recent years, incorporating new elements that traditional monetary valuation of ecosystem services did not consider, including spatial, sociological scenarios among others and new models of critical analysis, some methods emerge as is the case of cellular automata from which new investigations may appear for the plural or integral evaluation. The state of the art of integral valuation of the ecosystem services related to Water was built based on bibliometric analysis, using the search for scientific documents in the Scopus.

Background Critical thinking is an important student learning outcome in all psychology courses and included in the American Psychological Association’s (APA’s) goals for the undergraduate major. Objective The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of integrating a general model of critical thinking into the instruction, assignments, and discussions in an online course on students’ development of critical analysis and evaluation skills. Method Two raters scored 34 students’ written responses on a critical thinking test administered at the beginning and end of the semester that had students analyze psychological studies as reported in media reports and evaluate position statements on a controversial issue. During the term, students completed assignments on identifying the parts of a scientific study and discussions on identifying weaknesses in thinking. Results Students showed large gains in critical analysis and critical evaluation scores from pretest to posttest. Specific comparisons revealed that students significantly improved their abilities to identify the theoretical point of view of a study, relevant psychological concepts, assumptions, and implications. Conclusion Integrating critical thinking in a direct way into a course can lead to substantial improvements in critical thinking over the span of a single semester. Teaching Implications The conceptualization of critical thinking used is broadly applicable to any psychology course at any level of education.

In the past century saw that Europe associates themselves as a Christian domain until now. The proclaimation of Edict of Thessalonica in 380 AD made the Nicene Christianity as the state in Roman Empire and saw a transition from paganism to a Christian domain or Christendom. Since its inception, several edict has been enacted and several peace treaties have been broken to diminish an idea of multiculturalism within theirs faith land. The establishment of Muslim rules in Iberian Peninsula has changed the dominion of Christian. Muslims in Spain introduced convivencia, which saw that Abrahamic religions, Islam, Judaism and Christianity co-exist together, removing racial, cultural and religious barriers to embrace each other that nurture spirit of inclusion. The Golden Age of Muslim Civilization evidence that Cordova has become a center of Europe, perhaps the world for scientific knowledge advancement. Subsequently, contribute for Renaissance Age in Europe. Additionally, fall of Constantinople in 1453 under Ottomans reshaping the geographcial of Europe and permanently marked the term of European Islam. Through tedious analysis on medias, reports and past journals, this article adopted critical analysis in understanding the complexity of history of Europe, at the same time positioning Islam as part of Europe culture. The contribution of Islam in Europe seems negligible and less attention has been given. Past researchers tend to overlooked and belittled impacts of Islam in Europe continent, thus diminish any legitimacy of Islam in Europe. Critical analysis methodology assist researcher to understand the main issues, reviewing past and present evidence from reliable sources to establish concrete arguments in providing critical evaluation on the discussed issues. It is also a form of method involve investigating topics more deeply, by going beneath the surface of reality to explore the truth of a particular issue. The article established it arguments through historical analysis in Europe starting from ancient time to present situation to give a clear analogy and legitimacy on the presence of Islam in Europe. The finding shows that Islam indeed part of Europe since establishment of Umayyad Caliphate and presence of Islam in Sicily. Moreover, contemporarily, the rising of Muslims, issues of atheism and secularism proof that Europe is no longer center of Christianity but already become multiculturalism society.

AbstractAn evaluation of an algorithm used to extract Threading Screw Dislocation defect data from Synchrotron White Beam X-Ray Topographical images of SiC wafers is reported. This extraction involves a two-fold process; firstly the algorithm highlights the appropriate defect and secondly updates the counter to provide a final result of defect count. The result of the automated algorithm is compared to hand counts in all cases, this allowing a critical analysis of the technique. Improvements to this algorithm have been made since last reported by the same authors, which are discussed. The analysis herein was also performed on a much larger sample of SiC wafer images than previously used by the same authors [1] allowing a better judgment of performance and critical evaluation. The algorithm is also compared with a previous algorithm that was used. Advantages and deficiencies in the algorithm are outlined and other potential avenues for extraction of the data are also discussed.

AbstractThis article assesses the seller's duty of conformity in a contract of sale under the OHADA Uniform Act on General Commercial Law. It posits that conformity is not an independent legal concept and so argues that a thorough assessment cannot be made without recognizing and taking into consideration a number of issues, irrespective of the contractual stipulations agreed by the contracting parties. Arguably, the notion of conformity falls within the meaning of the subjective understanding of a “defect”. This can raise confusion and uncertainty in determining the seller's liability for non-conforming goods. Thus, from a cursory reading of the Uniform Act, the question of the seller's duty regarding the conformity of goods can conveniently be addressed from a number of different angles: the nature of the defect; local and international standards; contract law; and the principles of caveat venditor and caveat emptor. Adopting an in-depth content analysis and critical evaluation of primary and secondary data, the article concludes that a balance should be struck between these variables and, where no guidance is given in article 255 of the Uniform Act, the prevailing norm in member states should form the basis for determining the concept of conformity of goods.
