Cyberphysical system design automation utilizing knowledge based engineering techniques with globally networked knowledge bases can tremendously improve the design process for emerging systems. Our goal is to develop a comprehensive architectural framework to improve the design process for cyberphysical systems (CPS) and implement a case study with Axiomatic Design Solutions Inc. to develop next generation toolsets utilizing knowledge-based engineering (KBE) systems adapted to multiple domains in the field of CPS design automation. The Cyberphysical System Design Automation Framework (CPSDAF) will be based on advances in CPS design theory based on current research and knowledge collected from global sources automatically via Semantic Web Services. A case study utilizing STEM students is discussed.

An approach to an ontology-based information system design theory for spatial information system development is presented. This approach addresses the dynamic nature of information system development at the beginning of the 21st century and addresses the question of how to establish relationships between the various design components of a spatial information system. It should also help to automate and guide the design process while at the same time improve the quality of the process along with its outputs. An example of this approach is presented, along with examples of the various ontologies utilized in the design of this particular spatial information system. Finally, a method to mitigate the issues regarding the organization and management of a growing library of ontologies is discussed.

In this paper, the system design issues of the Propulsion and Control System of the ROV II are analyzed and addressed. The design concept, some of the upgraded features of the ROV II in comparison to ROV I and the unified pilot training and control system developed, will also be briefly discussed in this paper.

Suroteleng Village (Selo Subdistrict, Boyolali Regency, Central Java) is located between the slopes of Mount Merapi to the north and the slopes of Mount Merbabu to the south. This makes Suroteleng Village potentially as a strategic ecotourism destination. Nevertheless, the local government wants to have a distinctive tourism identity, and downhill biking (cycling from the top of the mountain slope to the lower point) is proposed to be an iconic nature tourism activity in the village. Therefore it is necessary to design mobility facilities, which can facilitate tourists to easily be able to get to the starting point of cycling, which is located on the upper slopes of the mountain. The mobility facility was designed based on two aspects, namely: 1) System design theory (system engineering), and 2) Global Sustainable Tourism Council Destination Criteria; so that it meets the requirements as a green mobility based on appropriate technologies and become icon in the ecotourism area of Suroteleng Village.

The mechanical system design method based on the Service Oriented Architecture was proposed through the service-oriented architecture technology and mechanical system design theory analysis .The machine arm system design finite element analysis process was presented. Based on the TomCat platform design, Service oriented architecture design of the robot arm system design based on finite element analysis process were established. This design method was verified technically.

This paper offers an extension of axiomatic design theory to ensure that leaders, managers, and engineers can sustain manufacturing systems throughout the product lifecycle. The paper has three objectives: to provide a methodology for designing and implementing manufacturing systems to be sustainable in the context of the enterprise, to define the use of performance metrics and investment criteria that sustain manufacturing, and to provide a systems engineering approach that enables continuous improvement (CI) and adaptability to change. The systems engineering methodology developed in this paper seeks to replace the use of the word “lean” to describe the result of manufacturing system design. Current research indicates that within three years of launch, ninety percent of “lean implementations” fail. This paper provides a methodology that leaders, managers, and engineers may use to sustain their manufacturing system design and implementation.
