Dendritic/mesoporous nanoparticle structures arise naturally and result from aggregation based growth mechanisms. For the 70 nm particles studied herein, up to 60% of the catalytic surface is contained in the internal structure of the particle.

Platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) immobilized on a N-doped graphene@Al2O3 hybrid support (Al2O3@CNx) were synthesized and exhibit superior catalytic activity for low temperature CO oxidation, due to a strong metal–support interaction between Pt NPs and the N-doped.

By using Pt nanoparticles dispersed by polyvinylpyrrolidone and cationic biopolymer, poly(l-lysine) (Pt–PVP/PLL), the highly selective H2 production based on formate decomposition was accomplished compared with that of Pt–PVP.
