Description is given to preparation of three ionic liquid surfactants containing amine functional groups, characterization of their functional groups using the infrared spectrometer, determination of their surface tension and the oil displacement test in this paper to investigate the effect of alkane branch chains with different carbon numbers on the surface tension and the displacement efficiency. The result shows that, the surfactants exhibit the structural characteristic of the ionic liquid as the characteristic absorption peaks occur on C-N and C-H of the imidazole rings at the wave numbers of 1338cm-1, 1234cm-1, 1465cm-1 and 3142cm-1, respectively. The surface tension isothermal curves and the oil displacement test proved that the ionic liquid imidazole surfactants with shorter-chain groups are more active on surface, with the minimal surface tension up to 32.5 mN/m, and led to higher displacement efficiency, increasing by 3.3% at the concentration of 1000mg/L compared with the water flooding.

An tungstate ionic liquid (IL) 2-(1-propyl-3-methyl-imidazolium) ([C3mim]2[WO4]), was prepared. The density and surface tension of the IL were determined in the temperature range of (293.15 to 343.15) K. Using Kabo’s method and Rebelo’s method, the molar enthalpy of vaporization of the IL, ΔlgHm0(298 K), at 298 K and, ΔlgHm0(Tb), at hypothetical normal boiling point was estimated, respectively.

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used for the determination of the reaction enthalpy of the synthesis of the ionic liquid [C4Py][Cl] from pyridine and butyl chloride. A combination of DSC results with quantum chemical calculations presents an indirect technique to obtain enthalpy of vaporization of [C4Py][Cl]. In order to ascertain this indirect value, we used thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) to derive enthalpy of vaporization directly from the isothermal mass-loss measurements. This new procedure was additionally validated with molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Abstract The good quality of several manufactured components frequently depends on solidliquid interactions existing during processing. Nowadays, the research in material engineering focuses also on modern, automatic measurement methods of joining process properties, i.a. wetting force and surface tension, which allows for quantitative determination of above mentioned parameters. In the paper, the brazes’ dynamic properties in high-temperatures’ measurement methodology and the stand for automatic determination of braze’s properties, constructed and implmented within the research grant nr KBN N N519 441 839 - An integrated platform for automatic measurement of wettability and surface tension of solders at high temperatures, are widely described
